what exactly did you use as adhesive to put on your spoiler ?

I have an AMG C55 spoiler, getting painted Pewter (723), and debating whether having the bodyshop install, or do it myself.

i went to autozone and picked up the 3m heavy duty molding tape...
i guess it does the job cuz when i tried to adjust the spoiler after realizing i screwed up..it wouldnt budge..

i considered having a body shop do it too...but realized that the spoiler is pretty delicate and body shops might be careless and get it scratched up...also, i wanted to personally do it to make sure the finish on the decklid would be okay if i was to take off the spoiler later on..

let me know how your install goes...mine took forever cuz i had to get rid of the old adhesive on the spoiler before putting on the new 3m tape...i wish i had aligned it better before sticking it on...but i guess its decent, maybe im just picky..

When I installed the AMG spoiler on my C-Coupe,
what I did was something like this:

- before I pulled the paper off the sticky tape, I placed the spoiler exactly where I wanted it
- I then used 3M blue painters tape, to outline both ends / edges of where the spoiler sat (after aligning it perfect). This gave me a guide on both sides, so that it would sit perfectly centered
- I then removed the paper off the sticky tape, and carefully aligned both edges, and centered it perfectly.

If you can, get someone to help you, that has very steady hands. Placing it down on the surface very lightly, adjusting very carefully, and watching the edges on both sides. Once you're less than a MM above the surface, take it down carefully and press down hard to set it in place. Then I placed a couple of towels on top, and finally some phone books and extra weight to hold it down tightly.

I thought about using some sort of adhesive glue, but the AMG spoiler came with that sticky tape, so that was a no brainer.

The current C55 AMG spoiler I have for the C-Sedan, doesn't have the sticky tape, it has already been completely removed, so I have the option of using an industrial automotive adhesive, or go with the 3M heavy duty molding tape.
That's why I asked above.

The black projectors you ordered, are they Depo, or the other brand that looks like 05+ OEM headlights except there's a projector beam?

I've heard a lot of people have the same problem you did with the NON-Depo brand. 4 different people have told me that when they received the headlights, there were pieces rolling around inside the headlight.

Even though I am a Depo-basher now, Depo's are pretty well made compared to other aftermarket headlights. Now if only they could learn to install the "bowl" correctly so the light pattern works correctly...

Don't keep those headlights! Remember when other people reported that their "Depo's" were melting? I think they were actually incorrectly grouping all aftermarket projector headlights into one category and calling them Depo's. I think it was the non-Depo brand headlights that were melting. The guy I sold my Depo headlights to told me that he bought the non-Depo kind, and he had the same problem as you, a piece rolling around in the headlight. He fixed it himself, and then the headlights started melting on him a few weeks later. The non-Depo projector quality is so bad they aren't even worthy of being called "Made in China"

Did the package have insurance? If it does, I'd file a claim with the shipping carrier. If you didn't get insurance, you should return the headlights to the seller on eBay. If the seller won't take the headlights back, then I would file a Paypal claim.

I doubt you could get very much selling them as is.

I would think a piece rolling around on the inside is a perfectly legit reason to do either ask for a return or file a claim...do it..

Looks good!

Wheels, drop, and of course that C55 spoiler. I'm thinking of that some spoiler. Now that they're on every '07 though...

You've done a bunch of work on your car in a relatively short amount of time. How 'bout you join us at our next SoCal meet and show that thing off!

I feel the same way about the spoiler, but it still looks great regardless, so I still put it on. And thanks, I've been working my butt off to make this thing worthy of posting pics on MBWorld! I love the way it's come out, but I still have more to do to it!
