2004 c230 tunes???
i just bought a 2004 c230 k and I'am really happy with the car I had a 2002 e55 bought new and sold to cheap but i really needed a better mpg car. So anyway I first decided I wanted the ipod integration kit and went m.b.glendale $700.00 okay but after reading all the mbworld stuff i realized the head unit for 04 was crap (cassette player???) I didn't get it yet and I don't know which way to go . I had command in the e55 and never used it, should I get 05 radio (ebay $350.00 ) and will it just go right in and will the aux cable work i'am great at my own install's ? Thanks , Dan

The Ipod kit is not hard to install, and lists for 299, but can be had for about 250. Problem is then you are stuck with the Ipod as a music source. I am Using a Cowon D2 at the moment through the aux cable. The cable cost is about 40, super easy to install, and the sound is the same as the ipod kit. The D2, however, can use formats other than MP3, so superior fidelity is possible. The aux input allows connection of any device with a 1/8 stereo phone jack.

I ALREADY HAVE THE IPOD WHICH I LIKE AND I SAW THE AUX CABLE INSTALL FOR A 2005 WHICH STATED YOU PRESS THE CDC BUTTON TO ACTVATE THE AUX , BUT 2004 HU DOES NOT HAVE THIS FUNCTION . THANKS: nix:

do you have the fit kit also ? ( i guess thats what you call the plastic part the radio slide's into) sounds good to me where are you ? how do yo want to proceed? thanks

There is one guy that has done this, Sunman, but be prepared to spend thousands but it maybe worth it to you. You may want to consider the MB Audio 10 CD for the early C's. It sounds better and is plug and play.

After making a million searches I realized I should'a bought an 05. So i'am going for the avic d3 because it has the best op's for the money even if I bought command I would still have to buy the ipod interface and I already had that in my e55 and never liked it so aftermarket here I come !

If your 04 has a cassette player it is possible to mod the player to make an input jack for the Ipod. There is a thread with pix that details how to do it. You would lose the cassette function, but could keep the factory look to your dash.
