I just got my car sent to the dyno a few days ago to get it ready for the supercharger install. It was about a 20% loss from the crank to the wheels... results

question..

what is the total $$$$ of all these mods you have done or plan to do ?

wouldn't it be easier/cheaper just to buy a used C32 ?

I currently have another daily driver car..

I have purchased this C240 for research and development to try to get as much out of this 2.4 without spending an equivalent of a kleemann SC.

edit: oops, 2.6

It is not a 2.4. It is a 2.6.

You've just provided him with his first valuable discovery in his "research and development" process!

Evosport has the SC kit on sale for about $8500. Then you have to pay for the installation. I am not sure how much installation would add to that cost.

I think I heard the Brabus and Renntech motor exchange was a little more expensive..almost double of the Kleemann SC kit. But, when you think about the money you invest in increasing the HP of your C240 or C320....you could get the C32. And you get the factory warranty.

With the price of the Kleemann SC comes 14 years of reliablity. Installed, they are about $10,000 for the V6, much less than the cost to upgrade a C240 to a C32. For what you're getting, the Kleemann SC is relatively cheap. You may be able to save money custom-fabbing your own system, but once you add all of the necessary parts and take account for potential costs of fixing the small to major problems that come along with research and testing, you can easily exceed the cost of the Kleemann.

got to agree w/ mach430 on this. w/ all the time spent on this w/ unknown results and reliability, i would just get something that already been proved to work AND enjoy it instead of waiting. might as well enjoy it now right?

I don't think the 2.6 can run the boost as high as 14.5 psi. Brad/Mach430, how much hps would you think the 2.6 can get by adding the helical s/c? I'm thinking about the range of 60-70hps??

I would not run more than half a bar (7.25 lbs) of boost on an engine that is not built to run big boost. The 1/2 bar that the Kleemann system runs is designed to be safe on the car. Remember, this is in combination with their patented intercooler setup. Without an intercooler, and proper design, I would not bother supercharging a Mercedes. The risks are just too high.

I believe the Kleemann SC increases HP on the 2.6 litre motor about 70HP - from 168 to 238HP. Increases torque from 225Nm to 315Nm at 0.5bar boost. You get a little more HP from the 3.2 litre motor.
