but for the 112 airbox, the hose goes over the airbox, and it a circular shape.

and besides, the 32k airbox hoses are a bit shorter lol
I ordered a set anyway, to see if I can play around with it. Time for House of Imports Parts Dept. to hook me up again. If it won't fit the C32 AMG airbox, or can't be manipulated, it's always good that I have another C320 M112/W203 guinea pig that loves all my extra mod projects.

yeah, I wouldn't mind that C350 engine on a C-Coupe or C-Sedan either.

It's funny because, the 2007 models are pretty much what people wanted back in 2002-3, but it took 4 years for Mercedes-Benz USA to catch up.

carlos, i can just tell you they won't fit the m112k airbox.

the real question about this "mod" does it really significantly cools the air or is it "feeling" cooler on the tube because it is still "cloth" in the end which doesn't matter how fine the weave is you still get significant amount of air passing through. guess the question is: is the tube cooler because the air that's rammed into the intake escapes from the weave causing the tube itself to cool down.

based on my experience even the CF intakes in various cars get quite warm because it keeps the hot air out instead of allowing the cold air to escape through the weave.

simple test would be take a blow drier and put your hand inside the tube while heating up the outside. if you can feel the heat than it's really not doing anything.

I finally ordered the thermo-tec insulation btw and those have been proven to work on the E55s already.

well frank,

I took the car out for a spin. with the plastic tubes, after a long drive, when they heat up, the car's response is so slow. but with the kevlar tubes, its different. seriously different. the plastic tubes get REALLY REALLY HOTT! especially with the AC on.

Thanks Frank, for good info.
I might try that blow-drier test to see what happens.
I guess I'll put these on the C320 SS instead of the Coupey.

I just put these in and came back from a drive. They're the same temp. as the plastic tubes. Oh well. At least they look cooler.

yeah, try heavy throttle the car, with the slap-matic on, high revs, drive for like atleast 1/2 hr. then feel the tubes. you'll feel the difference.

Just got back from another drive. This is kinda off topic, but I replaced my stock filters with K&N's, and holy sh*t, the pick up is unbelievable. The car idles so much smoother now and I can hear the engine "breathe". I'm astonished. It feels like a new car.

that's what I heard about them, but the fact that I can keep these filters the entire life of the car intrigued me. I thought the filters played a placebo trick on my mind, but honestly, the car picks up a whole lot quicker and sounds fiercer. Eh, who knows, maybe it's the fact I changed out old filters with ones that are brand new and not clogged up.

that's exactly what happened.

the rest is placebo effect.

I've tried stock MANN, K&N, and GREEN
and there's no real difference in any of them.

K&N leaves oily residue on the MAF which is not good in the long term, no matter how long K&N's are advertised to last.

Stock MANN filters require cleaning regularly. I cleaned mine out about once every 2 months.

I switched to GREEN filters a while back, and they work great, filtering all the nasty stuff just like stock MANNs, but without the oily residue like K&Ns.

yeah I figured that, but hell I enjoy the feeling and new sound. Not too worried about the MAF. I have a mechanic that I check with regularly about potential issues like that. I've read a lot reviews from other Mercedes drivers with K&N filters who've never had problems. Not saying there haven't been issues, but I'll take my chances I guess, as sad as that may sound. If my car was new, I'd be more concerned, but at this point in the game it doesn't bother me.

ah, I see I see, I have K&Ns for quite a while, always looking for AWE? or BMC filters, but they cost a fortune

drove over an hour today before testing the temp between plain plastic intake pipe and kevlar instake pipe... kevlar was noticeably colder than the other... how does that translate into performance? prolly 0.5hp gain... lol...

here's the finished pic...

what you should do MJ,

take the car out for a spin, like a at-least 10 min cruise after your car gets hot, then pull over, put the stock plastics in. see how it feels
