DONE: Kevlar Intake tubes for M112 Motors.

ayy...good news for my M112 brothers!

I've been wanting to do this for a while, especially for the Renntech CF airbox!. A few months (or even a year back!) I have discovered that the stock plastic tubes get hella HOT after a nice drive, and then air turns hot, and then....lack of power. With that in mind, I tried removing the intake tubes and had discovered that with moderate temperature weather, the car actually performs a bit better than with the intake tubes, and of course, comes with a nice intake sound. (verified by anthuny85 and a few more local members!)

but the downpoint to that is..... ONCE you drive for a long time, at speeds like 50mph, it gets quite "hot" for the airbox.

I have discovered that, driving a loaner for a 6 hr drive, high speeds, low speeds, heavy throttle....popped open the hood, and...the KEVLAR TUBES ARE NOT EVEN WARM! they are quite cold actually, while the rest of the engine bay is HOT AS HELL!

so...I have ordered these OEM C350 Kevlar tubes and they fit PERFECTLY for the M112 motors as well! and after installing it today, I took it out for a 1/2 hr spin. usually after 1/2 of hard driving, the car sorta "lags" due to the hot engine bay, but with the tubes, it was great. better "sound" than the plastic tubes, and came home, popped open the hood, the airbox was not as "warm" as it was supposed to be, and the tubes are COLD!

I might be blabbing too much, but, I highly reccommend these. seriously.

Awesome find, Advans! Keep reporting back as you run with these longer, but this is much more functional than your other attempts.

In fact, I wonder how this would work as a replacement for the cloth pipe on the m271 intake tubing? Hmmmm...Although, I know some people are coming up with some intake concepts, so we'll have to see.

yeap I agree drex. this is probably the best attemp YET. I'm actually developing a CF connection from the airbox to the radiator unit, something similar to the K&N APOLLO SERIES.

thanks guys,

the part#s are....

0272-090-02-82
0272-090-07-82

they are $32.80 EACH at OEMPARTSDIRECT.

Robert,

I sold the amg airboxes to a crossfire guy, not sure if it will fit, but it probably doesnt look like it will, I guess unless you "customize" it yourself, but def not a direct fit.

Actually, I take that back. Just select the 2006 Mercedes Benz C Class, click on Engine when the category list comes up, click on Air Intake, click on Air Inlet, Click on View Illustration, then click on w/o 4matic (it's a typo and it's listed twice #4/5).

I think #5 is the left side, but I can't remember. Best way is to go on the website. The illustration clearly shows the different sides.

Only thing is, for the m271, there would need to be some custom fabricating, due to the different shape of the plastic inlets. I think it can be done, just a matter of how you approach it.
