Why does the Kompressor not allow me to this?
Maybe, just maybe the computer in the car has a fail safe in the transmission so people cannot easly destroy the transmission. Now that is just a thought. I cannot understand any one who is in any clear mind try to destroy a transmission just for the joy of spending $$$$ to buy a new one.

Doing what I did one time, for a few minutes, won't do jack to the car.
Anyway, the point is, often once is too much.
Get that stupid thought out of your head. Just because people implied that it was my intetion to do so, it was not. Doing what I did one time, for a few minutes, won't do jack to the car.
Remember General George Armstrong Custer who went into battle? He just just made one mistake also, it really did not cost him anything did it?????
.
Okay, I found the thread. It's good enough for a laugh, sorry 02Impressor.
And hopefully it will keep anyone else from trying this.

Geez 11 pages on this?
Not for nothin' O2, but isn't it Floyd Bennett Field?
Back then I didn't know what it was called so i referred to it as I heard someone say the name.

I went to Floyd Bennet field today, a huge open field (ex military base) to learn my car better. It was raining out but regardless I tried to do burn outs. My friend suggested that I:
Go in Reverse, gas up until 20 mph, then quickly change to Drive and floor the gas pedal.... He has a fast Maxima and this is how he burns out.
This is what happend;
As soon as I switched to Drive (w/o braking, just switched from R to D), the car kept going in reverse anyway! Even if I gas'd up it would just go faster in Reverse until I came to a complete stop, then there would be a jerk and the car would be in D mode. Why did this happen? I did this with ESP off & ESP on, W mode & S mode. Someone explain.
btw, why would consider something as foolish as that? Because your friend can, in a fwd MAXIMA?

Luck your tranny didn't come apart! probably a safety feature as to why the car wont just get back into D..I did a N to D drop at 5k rpm on my 91 190E 2.6.. and the tranny shredded to pieces.. I was 16.. learned my lesson after working all that summer to pay for the repairs.
you're an idiot.

Here is what you do:
First, find the steepest hill you can.
Second, make sure is dry NOT wet. If its wet the tires wont grip.
Third, punch it in reverse - watch behind you, you want to be safe to other drivers.
Fourth, when you top out at the rev limiter - let bounce a few time (for effect of course) drop it in "D" and punch the hell out of it.
That should get you where you need to be. . ..
What I was basically trying to say was: Let this thread go, and use your common sense. It's your car, do whatever you want with it, but be prepared to live with the consequences of your actions.
