Why does the Kompressor not allow me to this?

i don't suppose snobs care to associate themselves with the UNIMOG, though.

btw, fyi, i just added this thread to the unofficial c-class faq - look in the controversial threads...
This forum isn't about who can afford what. It's about helping each other enjoy our benzs.........isn't it?
They make differenct models and colours so we can all get something close to what we want.......what's wrong with that?
Nobody seems to dig BMW for there 3 series. Isn't the C-class just MB's version the the 3 series?
A C230K dosen't weight close to 3400 lbs because they cheapened it. It's because there is a bunch of stuff underneath that the Honda/Acrua/Lexus group chose to leave off.
I agree the inside may be less than then what you find in an S-class. But look underneath the car. Take off the covers and you'll see the C-class is pure Mercedes-Benz.
When people start ricing out the C sedan like they rice out the Hatchback, and start posting the downmarket, childish kinds of posts that the Hatchback owners here post ("duhh, how can I do a burnout in my Hatchback" "duhhh, how can I put high intensity purple lights in my Hatchback", "I was kidnapped in my Hatchback but Tele-Aid saved my life") the C sedan will also have gone down-market.
You'll be able to tell if and when the content on a C sedan board is indistinguishable from the content on Honda ricer boards, and when the grammar, spelling and general indicia of education and intelligence of C sedan owners drops to around the 6th grade level.
Here we go again with the ."..and my dad can beat up your dad"

What this thread needs is a pick-me-up!

childish...? absolutley
guess that makes me a real big kid for doing it in a clk430...
so SOCAL can shove his poxy *** weedy v6 up his middle aged hole?
no...that would be unfair.... but he can:-
get a life just because you couldnt afford a merc when you were young ...dont sulk at those who can...!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The posts on this board are perfect evidence of that. Before the Hatchback, how many MB boards were filled with such wonderful posts as:
1. "How can I make my tires chirp?"
2. "How can I install purple license plate lights?"
3. "How can I install underhood neon lights?"
4. "Who sells the best fake Xenon light bulbs?" (like a Honda Civic site, 20% of the posts here are now about screwing around with the lightbulbs on the car - what is it with rice and lights??)
5. "LoOk At Me i CaN TyPe LiKe ThIs"
6. "How do I get stains out of my CLOTH seats?"
7. "Can I do a reverse-to-drive transmission drop at 30 mph without hurting the car?"
8. "Wen exccellirating or breaking I heer a noize coming from over their."
All a reflection of the depths of the market MB is trying to explore with the Hatchback.
I will admit that #'s 1-8 are pretty funny, as #7 being Hilarious.:p
Just to comment on how you think CLOTH is down-market, the ML320 comes standard with cloth as well. Do you consider that more down-market than your C240 6 speed? And the ML320 has a higher base price than your C240 6 speed.
Obviously the car can not be so down-market that only "low calss" people buy it if we could have had other cars. Take me for an example, i have a CLK430 and a C230 Coupe when i could have alot of different cars than the C230. Or one car for $90,000.
I dont know how you could say the C230 interior matierials are cheap. I had a C240 loaner and the interior looked so much cheaper than my C230. The Wood grain trim was very cheap looking. And i also did not consider the fake leather it came with to be very "high class".
If you think your C240 is such a "high class" car then why is it avalible in the 6 speed? why dont the more expensive MB models offer a 6 speed?
burnout in a 230? absolutely
childish...? absolutley

Length: 171 in.
Width: 68 in.
Height: 54.3 in.
Weight: 3305 lbs.
Wheel Base: 106.9 in.
Ground Clearance: 6.3 in
I'd say thats pretty close to 3400 lbs.
Sweet, can you post a pic of that, I'd never seen a MB do a burnout until the recent pics of the black C230...
childish...? absolutely,
fun...? absolutely!

I think what they meant was that it weighs nearly 3400 pounds, so as to imply that they didn't cut a bunch of stuff out of it to lower the price...he wasn't saying it didn't way 3400 pounds.
dave
Long live the coupe...

Think a G-class could do a burnout?
Is that street legal? wow...
"Yes, once certified and licensed it is fully legal to drive on any road that is rated for it’s weight (all major roads and highways) and height (10’6”). It meets California emissions standards and all applicable DOT/FMVSS/EPA regulations. The MaxiMog™ is a Truck not an SUV and requires a driver’s license for a heavy (over 12,500lbs) vehicle with air brakes." (That's from the FAQ section of the website)
I know that automatics were not necessarily designed for this, and I keep kicking myself for not going for the 6-speed, but that was before I learned how to drive stick.
As for my opinion on burnouts: I wouldn't mind trying those out once, just for kicks, but since they're not recommended for fast starts, I prefer fast starts (and maybe a "chirp") over burnouts.
I've tried switching between N and D while driving a few times, to try to get the feeling similar to manuals when coasting/braking, but it's ineffective. Usually the tranny computer farts and ends up taking an EXTRA long time to get back into gear, whether your foot's on the gas or not. After I tried for a while, I just plain gave up; it's not worth the trouble.
