DEPO headlights

Is DEPO the only one who makes the clear black projector lights (C55 style)? I haven't heard anything good about their quality on these forums even though every ebay auction claims that DEPO is an OEM manufacturer...(I'm taking that with a grain of salt because I've never seen a factory MB with black headlights...)

Any luck with DEPO lights???

Turning Signal Light!

I was just wondering if anyone knew if the turning signal light is the same used in the OEM lights? My DEPO lights came and i installed them but for some reason there are no lights in the turning signals so is the bulb type the same? if so, can i just take out my old bulbs from my OEM halogen housing turning signals and plug and play them into these new DEPO housing? If not, what bulbs would i need to put in the turn signal?

i also have a passenger side OEM '05 clear housing halogen for sale, its never been mounted and im in NY if anyone is interested?

Sincerly,
Kevin

Simple solution. Take out the blinker bulbs from your OEM headlights and see if they fit in the depos.

Nobody mentioned this, but Depo, and TYC supply replacement parts for the autobody industry . . . that's why they have great OEM mounting points, but cheap internals. From the gauge of wire, to the heft of the plastic housings, these bodyshop replacements are lacking compared to the OEM Bosch or Hella units they are cloned from.

Well, does anyone know the bulb type for the turning signal in the DEPO housing ? if so does come in LED or where do i even order it from?

Thanks in advance!

Sincerly,
Kevin

Why not contact the manufacturer you purchased from on ebay and find out? You'd think they would know.

Thanks for the reply Drex, and awesome thread of your evolution of your car it looks awesome! , but unfortunately like most of the "power sellers" on ebay, their customer service sucks, they already got my money and feedback, i left 3 messages over the course of 2 weeks and to my luck (no reply!). So now im really trying to figure it out because it is dangerous and annoying to see it in my cluster EVERY time i start up the car. I went to my local pep boys, and they were just dumb founded (they were either in a special class in school or didnt give a **** for my problem)

And now that leaves me here, looking for the help from someone with the knowledge!

Thanks Again,
Kevin

white and whiter
i think the 05-07 clear headlight with a HID kit would work better than DEPO.

Here's the thing. There are 2 types of bulbs for OEM bi-x. Some people had p21w (1156), others had py21w (7507) and still others had p21/s (2357, which I think is also 1157).

Try any 3 of these bulbs. It's bound to be one of them.

If that doesn't work, take a look at the auto illumination website. I'm pretty sure it shows diagrams of different bulb bases, so you can determine where the connectors are on the headlamps and how it matches up to the bulbs.

If that's the case, I'm assuming that the sockets made for the DEPO's are for 1156 (py21w) bulbs (from what I recall for older headlights).

Question: On the DEPO headlights, are there new sockets as well or do you use the OEM sockets? If the DEPO's use OEM sockets for the DEPO headlights, it may be a problem for those that don't have 1156 (py21w) bulbs for their blinkers.

If the DEPO's have sockets attached that lead to a single connector that is attached to the OEM connector, then it shouldn't be a problem. Just gotta get 1156 (py21w) bulbs.

Kevin, another thing that you can do is pull your OEM bulb again and look at the number that is etched onto the base. If there is no bulb number indicated, take some pics from different angles where we can see where the connectors sit.

That'll help process of elimination, since those didn't fit.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
The W203 headlight housings are neither Bosch nor Hella. They are made by Automotive Lighting in the Czech Republic for the most part. Currently they have LED headlights under test running around Europe on Audi A8's. (how can I get a gig testing those?)

AL is part of the Fiat Group of companies and supplies the aftermarket through Bosch and RGZ Magneti-Marelli.

I suppose you could use a Depo if you were selling the car and didn't have the cashniech for OEM, but there again what do you have against the next guy who drives the car?

I agree with Raymond, they are like "lipstick on a pig." (and it annoys the pig.)

Thanks for the advice, but was wondering 'considering the price difference' . did u have issues with these projectors, and for the best value for the money, how much the OEM would be for?

I don't have experience with non-OEM lighting, but reading horror stories again and again convinced me never to go that route. You can get OEM Bi-Xenons from Steve at MBenzNL.com - Steve and Wanda are great people and will help you out with any questions. If I remember correctly, I got mine from him for $1350 USD.

Actually , i'm not too interested in the BI-Xenon lights, i'm only intterested in the 'Clear' Headlights, i would like to keep my bulbs ..etc intact if possible and only change the 'lens' to be clear, instead of the original 2004 one is that possible? , and where to get that?

Steve has the 2005 Appearance Upgrade. I'm sure he'll sell the clear headlights by themselves, just email him.

*edit*

My bad, misread your post. Not sure if it's possible. You can get new headlights and retain your bulbs...

I bought my projectors (DEPO) off Ebay 6 months ago for 350. Absolutely no problems or issues and they look great.
