M271 Gruppe-flip Intake Scoop (direct bolt-on) Fabrication

Damn - before I get on this flight, just wanted to shoot out some installed pictures of my other project (took me 3 working weeks to produce). While I don't have much time to explain, I'm sure others will chime in on my behalf (the official unveiling was yesterday's Kwik-e-mart) about the fitment, quality and good looks of the final product:

Oh, yeah the airbox looks "funny" for a reason...it's another pending project that some of you were given a hint on. I bet ya'll can't wait for that one to be complete . Let's just say I'm doing what I can to improve our (M271s) intake systems.

Peace for a week!

Don't worry, I've also heat tested the final product by doing multiple freeway runs ~90mph average . Looks, sounds, feels amazing :d.

So, after reading some really ridiculously long threads about the m271 intake and how the snorkel gets air from the other side, I thought that the whole point of channeling air from the other side and through a cloth pipe was to avoid getting excessive water into the intake. Does this not defeat that?

After further evaluating, the hood grille can prevent excessive amounts of water being sucked into the engine. The filter box also has an extra drain.

So, that being said, unless you live in an area that the water rises above the top portion of the grille, it should be okay.

I don't see how that would be an issue. The V6/8/12 all have ram-air intake. water are drained out from the bottom of the airbox. The 4 cyclinders are the only ones with the excessive intake tubing routed to the other side. The reason might've been "design" influenced than anything to give the engine bay a balanced look.

Ive been slightly miss-informed by some of those past threads :\

Anyways, I'm surprised something of the sort hasn't been created earlier :P Hopefully, it'll put down some numbers on the dyno for ya m271 nuts out there, cuz its a beauty to look it.

nope and it won't fit the C350's (or any v6's at the moment) either

Jose will have to mold one from Franks and mine if he decides to do so

I was attempting this a while back. I was trying to make one from stock parts from other model mercedes so I would kept that stock look. After doing my research and visiting my Mercedes dealer ship I found out I would need some one to fab up a mold to connect to the new tubing.
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...m271+prototype

We should all thank Jose for this awesome mod. When I had my protoype on it did make a difference. I had an aluminm tube which held heat. This carbon fibor one looks great and holds back the heat.

I cant wait to see what esle he has in store for our M271 enigines!

THANK YOU JOSE!!
