I bought all the parts I needed on eBay. And I fabricated a hose fitting from a sprinkler part I found at a home improvement store. My original design didn't work because of the high pressures involved, but I did find a 2 part epoxy that held that fitting on the tube. My car seems to be a lot quicker.. Along with the muffler delete on the front of the engine, I also straight piped my 2nd CAT. Both these mods together made a big difference in my car, or at least I feel somewhat of a difference.

Whats up all,

I have a 2004 c230k sedan, and i have been searching these forums all day trying to figure if I have the m111 engine, or the m271. I would like to remove the intake resonator on my car to get a louder whine out of the supercharger as well, so having this information would be very helpful to me. Im new to this forum, but i am looking forward learning more about my benz. Thanks!

If you have a 2003-2005, it's a m271.

yes i got the code and what it is is the secnodary air injector its only for emissions and it makes a loud noise when the car is started from cold start. Its maeks the emissions better for the car after car warms up it serves no other purpose and does not mess anything up but I hate the cel of I took my stainless steal pipe and had a muffler shop weld me a outlet onto my pipe just like the factory resenator had and hooked the hose back up to it and now boom no cel and feels a lil better with everything hooked back up

So basically what all these posts come down to is you guys made an intercooler upgrade and took a silencer of the supercharger (not to mention the ram air upgrade)? I like where all this has gone. I think i'm gonna give this a go one week here soon. Upgrade all the pipes, ram air upgrade, and if money permits i'm gonna try putting a bigger intercooler on. Anybody try a bigger intercooler yet? If so, any gains, losses, etc?

NVM just saw a post where a guy did a intercooler upgrade in Thailand and got great gains. Definetely gonna upgrade the intercooler, but i'm going WAY bigger than stock. Dimensions i'm going for are 24.5"x11.75"x3", compared to the stock 22"x4.5"x2".

I wish the S/C were louder on my C230K, too. Only that would mean it had an even louder bark to match its pretty weak bite. I still love the sound an Eaton blower makes.

But I'd not risk it. I'm not good with tools and modding and I wouldn't risk the CEL issues some guys have had.

How many people have done this? And what kind of CEL have shown up? As long the the EGR hose is connected, every thing else should be the same right? instead of having a muffler, its just a straight aluminum pipe. That's my understanding. lol, what do i know

I was browsing ebay and I was curious if anyone has any experience with these kits? I'd like to get some feedback before pulling the trigger.

WOW!! $240 shipped for a piece of pipe and couplers? That's Nuts!
plus, Its missing two crucial keys to keep this pipe from blowing off when pressurized, And the coating is only Paint.
I wouldn't waste the money.

(I should probs start by explaining im new to the mercedes world, i own a C180k, and i was looking into this topic/subject area when i came across this site and thread. It should also be said that this is by far the best mercedes forum i have seen! Most others dont have many people interested in modding these motors, its a breathe of fresh air to see)


Now back on topic !!

I have read the complete thread and seen a lot about replacing the charged pipe in front of the engine to get more noise from the s/c (this might add a couple bhp too) but i havent seen much about the other resonator/baffler/muffler in the s/c itself ??

Also has anyone seen any before and after bhp results ? As im curious

Further more while maintaining the same levels of boost from the s/c running a more efficient intercooler and intercooler piping should see more bhp ?!


Has anyone got a link to a thread where someone has upgraded there intercooler on a M271 ?

Well I went ahead and ordered that pipe on eBay. It should be here this week. They are using the high-temp stuff so it should be fine in the engine bay. I will let everyone know once it shows up.

They also mentioned they are working on an upgraded intercooler kit. They wouldn't tell me how much it might cost, but they are confident it will at least help with heat soak.

Just a word of advice, Before you mount that pipe on your car, do yourself a favor and get some beads welded on or flare the ends of the pipe so the couplings don't pop off under pressure.
