Folding Mirrors Thread - All You Want To Know
A little wheels that allows one to adjust for the height of the headlights in regards to the load of the car. For example: a lot of friends in the back with a load of luggage in the trunk will, due to the load distribution, cause the headlights to shine high, blinding traffic. This little wheel will allow you to tilt down the headlights from the inside of the car thereby improving your visibility and be non-blinding to oncoming traffic.

The cheapest folding mirror job you can have is
- folding mirror frame, no memory x 2
- cable connection x 2
- folding mirror light switch (xenon or halogen)
If you need a new door controller x 2 then you just buy it.
Door controllers come in about 10 flavours, seriously.
(I mean it looks after several things including the air bag and puddle light, alarm and so on ...... but that's OT for now).
- adjust mirror
- memory option
- Avantgarde / elegance version
- dimming
- folding
Most of the part numbers for the higher spec controllers work in the lower spec cars. So it just depends what you have in your car.

whats the difference in the light switch between a xenon headlight and halogen? the headlamp washers?

This is the sign of time poverty, slow down, relax, have a good read. It's all there.
Just remember, Xenon is one type, Halogen is the other. Dont get the two confused with folding mirrors. That is all you need to know.
The other thing is .... there is no 0-1-2-4 wheel on the halogen switch.

Here is a pic of the parts, notice the mirror frames are in a folded position

I thought I should share this with all those interested in the update... the correct parts for the W203 folding mirror frames have arrived and are sitting in my house. They will be installed + programmed accordingly this Friday June 18th, 2004.
Cheers!

Programming folding mirrors on W203...
Mr tifosiv122:
You can plug and use the mirrors... if you want them to fold when you lock your car automatically (only available depending on the option of your car) then you need some programming to be done
My AMG at home (W203) does automatically fold when the car is locked, unfold when the car is unlocked
Cheers

They don't need to be programmed, it's just plug and play. I love mine.

Folding toys....
Mr tifosiv122:
Will do!.. though ALL the programming will be done at my M Benz dealer (still will pass along the info.)
In an "unrelated" note, I've purchased "Fedex" and decided to "ground" all shipments until further notice...
CitronC230K_03: What??...WHF!!!..
... just meessing with ya Mr CitronC230K_03
... Like Mr Yang1815 said, just make sure you post updated pictures after you've installed your new toys
Just in case for anyone that might be interested:
I have the "tendency" when I order parts to get a "second" full set "just in case"... well... the folding mirror frames are not the exception to that rule
.
I have not decided to "post" the sell of my extra set as of yet, however, if you are interested, you can email me to: Wiedermann@aol.com
Cheers!

Cool. When you find out the menu choice, please pass it along. I'm not sure I want that feature as I open them after leaving the garage...but its good to know it can be done.

yeah if you push really hard. they do fold though. they feel like they are going to break but they dont. they fold both forwards (towards hood/bonnet) and backwards (towards trunk/boot).
