Hopefully ill be able to program through star to auto fold...

One question, do you know how to remove the dcm? is it just held on by torx screws? i couldn't really see how it was mounted.. thanks again.

That is easy. After you remove the door panel the module has a plastic thumb latch. All you need are fingers to unplug the cables and lift it out of the door sheet metal. To replace, it just snaps into the cavity.

Does anyone have all the part numbers for the pieces that I would need for this conversion?

I know that I could just order the parts from Steve, but I want to see if my dealership can order the parts in as I'd save on shipping (my dealer has been able to get me 'euro-only' parts previously).

Thanks!

local dealer price is most likely more than Steve's...

They probably will be but I would still like to see what the difference in price would be.

The left front door control module is already useful for folding mirrors. The front SAM is useful for folding mirrors.

If you are using the car's original mirror positioning motor assembly it will not tilt down when you enter reverse. You need the positioning motor with a feedback wire to tell the door module the position of the mirror motor.

The front SAM needs to be programmed to be aware of the mirrors and you can program it with a choice in the MFD (multi function display) to fold automatically when parking and locking.

You need to change the headlight switch to add the manual mirror fold/unfold buttons. The headlight switch comes in colors to match your interior, so be sure to specify the correct color code when ordering.

The part number for the door module is 203 820 14 85
Finally I found some of the info I needed! So if my 2005 has memory seats, I can get the mirror frames and program the front SAM and they'll work? Is the headlight switch required or only needed if I would want to operate them manually? Is there a switch that doesn't have the headlight washer button?

Looks like the part numbers for the frames are:
left: 2038107576
right: 2038107876

Correct?

I ended up going ahead and buying the headlight switch. I was able to order everything through a dealer in the US after some part number research on EPC. The only way to get the headlight switch is with the damn headlight washer button. I won't be adding that, it makes to big of a mess. I don't use the windshield washer either.

EDIT:

Here are the part numbers I used for my car with memory seats, both mirrors heated, and left mirror dimming.

Left frame: 203 810 75 76
Right frame: 203 810 74 76
Headlight switch: 203 545 07 04 9116 (black interior)

Yep, but I got a great deal on the left frame from an European seller on eBay so I just bit the bullet and bought the other parts. I'd been wanting to add this for quite some time. Now I've got a good foot of extra space around my car to keep people away from my paint!

Hi all,
I have an european w203 - 2002 with folding mirrors with auto dimming feature (by switch on dashboard no memory folding)
I want to ask (speciially to steve) if it is possible to make automatic folding via star only? If not what additional hardware do i need.
PLus, is it possible to add tilt-down mirror on reverse gear?? Again. what do i need for that.

Thank you.

you will need door Control Modules from a 2005+ car for the auto folding to work when you lock the car..

So, if i buy just a single (right side for ex) control module.. i can use it for tilt-down on reverse also i guess. It is more important than auto-folding for me..

The door module is really a dumb terminal. The software resides in the front SAM for mirror control. I am not sure if a pre-facelift SAM will accept the version coding for auto folding mirrors. That feature was enabled using the "developer mode" of Star diagnostics, and I am not sure which SAM's will accept developer mode coding.

As for the tilt down in reverse, you not only need the door module that responds to memory seat commands, that is just plug and play, but you also need the memory seat mirror motor that has a feedback device and an extra wire to send the mirror position value to the door module. Without that the coding has no clue how far to tilt the mirror, and where it was before shifting into reverse.

There is an advantage beyond easier parking in tight quarters for auto folding mirrors. As you are walking away from your car you can see if you locked your car.

I wouln't say it would be worth the amount of money it would cost to retrofit them.

Hello everyone,

I'm about to retrofit folding mirrors on my C32
I have the correct dash switch, 2005+ front SAM and the 2005+ door modules.
All of the modules are Part # verified to be the right ones to get auto folding when locking the car and unfolding when unlocking.

The only thing (2 things) that i'm missing are the mirror frames!
I intentionally dont buy them, because i wonder this:

My car is without memory seats!
If i buy mirror frames with memory oprion, will they tilt down when i'm in reverse?
Is there any chance to incorporate and set "parking aid" in car without memory seats?

Or i should buy the cheaper non memory mirror frames?

Thank you in advance

The non-memory frames are what I have on my car. When I shift in reverse and the right mirror is selected the motor runs for a second and tilts the mirror down, enough that it is useful. However because there is no memory seat function, and no position feedback wire on the mirror, I have to manually move the mirror back up. It's no big deal, just not fully automatic.
