Service question regarding 2007 C230??

I'm planning on getting a 07 C230 Sport and was wondering about the service. Since MB no longer offers complimentary maintenance service, can we just have them change the oil/filter when it's time to do that? We don't need to get like the full service package correct? How often do we need to do the oil change according to the manual?

For oil change, i would still recommend every 3k miles.
The dealer recommends only every service or somthing like that.

I thought the mercedes engines don't need oil changes til like 12K or 15K. Or am I getting that confused with a BMW? What does the manual recommend? So can I just have the dealer change my oil/filter and not pay for the other services that are not much? This will probably be a lease so I can still get my car serviced at a local shop and not a dealer correct? That won't affect the warranty in any right?

Yea you still can but i would recommend dealer because they know what they're dealing with. But if your dealer is charging too much then do it somewhere else if u must. No it won't affect any warranty. I never trusted any other shops unless i've heard something positive about them.

Yea they don't but i try to be safe you know?? 12k or 15k is way too much...Its like almost a year. Never read the manual but i was recommended to do it every 3k (just to be safe)

You must work for an oil company! 3K on synthetic oil is the most ludacris thing I have heard in months! Who recommended 3K miles to you? Jiffy Lube? Oil Express? Midas?

Even on regular (dino) oil, you can safely go 5K. The marketing geniuses at the oil companies sure did a great job brainwashing you Kompressorc230332234234.

While the manual recommends 12K, 6-10K miles is reasonable for most people. Change at 6K if you do a lot of city driving or live in a dusty climate or drive your car really hard, 10K if you are mainly on the highway or drive like a granny. Going over 10K miles could allow sludge to build in your engine. Also, if you don't drive a lot, you should change your oil at least once a year.

So let's say I'm on the 10K schedule and when it's time I can just visit my local MB dealer and have them just change oil/filter correct? I don't need to pay for any unecessary checkups/services correct? How much will that run me for a C230? Also what kind of life can I expect from my brakes from normal driving? Will they be ok for like 25K, 30K miles??? Any ideas.

Service A costs around 200+tax at 12K miles or so
Service B costs around 400+tax I believe.
They just change oil and filter and top off some fluids. Welcome to MB LOL
I also believe in changing oil every 5-6K miles since I live in LA traffic. I just took it to an indy and changed my oil for around 80 bux. This way I have documentation of what I did at what mileage. You can change your oil at 3K miles but it's gonna cost you alot of money. Engine takes 8.5 qts at $5-6 each of Mobile One and filter costs around $25. You do the math

Is it mandatory to do the Service A or B or can we just request a simple oil/filter change at the dealer? I'm thinking if that's the case then I can take car to outside shop that does MB and just do the oil/filter change there? I mean they can't make you do a service you don't want correct?
