COMAND

is the COMAND system worth the money. my car is on order and is scheduled to be built in dec. 10. i have been debating whether i want the comand system or not. i figure if i dont include it, i would go ahead and get the audio 10, which is way cheaper then COMAND. is it useful, i mean those who have it do they use it alot. i know when its in use for navigation, you cant use the cd, butyou can still use the changer and radio. basically is it worth the money. thanks for the input. also if anyone has any pics of the different screens. i cant seem to find any, just the nav mode from mbusa website.

I justed ordered a C320 with COMAND, and it was the number one option on my list. It totally changes the look of the interior dash. I hate that big blank hole that is beneath the stereo in a car without COMAND. So yes, though it's expensive, and though the newness of the navigation may wear off after awhile, I always thought it was worth the money.

Plus, the Audio 10 isn't going to give you all the functionality of the COMAND unit. You only thing you'd gain would be an in-dash CD. (I've heard the sound quality will not be any better.) Get the glovebox mounted changer with COMAND instead. Also, it'd be interesting to see if the stereo head unit built into COMAND is different from the factory Bose unit or different from the Audio 10 unit. In terms of quality, I'd be surprised if the COMAND unit didn't sound as good or better than the best of the other two alternatives.

See some pictures of the interior with COMAND at http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/jasonh...src=bc&.view=t

Talking thanks

yeah i have the comand currently in the order. i know that is i take it out, and once i take delivery, ill kick myself in the @$$ for not getting it. thanks alot for you input. i love music, im not a big time audiophile though so i doubt if i would notice any big difference between a bose audio 10 or comand. another reason i ordered it initially was because i didnt like the cubby hole look. thanks again!

Couldn't live without it!

Plus you get a line input for your MP3 and sat radio.

I dont think that is the 2003 C 320 sedan. The multicontour seat control is different and cheaper looking that the one in that picture.

The Audio 10 sounds way better than the Command system. Also I don't like the way you work the radio with Command, overly complicated. We use a paper navigation system call the Thomas Brothers Guide, work well, only costs $10 and is completely portable.

Awaiting a new arrival...
COMAND was one of those options for me that I had to have...in fact, my dealer removed it from my order at one point to save some $$$ and I went nuts. To me, it completes the dash and you gain the in-dash CD slot and the aux input. For me, both were important to have. Yes, I could get an Audio 10 for a 10th of the price, but I just like the look of the dash with no holes and the small screen.

I am pleased with the overall quality of the sound and the features of the COMAND system, too. Though, I have never used a NAV CD yet...

And I've never used the changer yet, either...

Damn, what a waste of money!

You got Command to fill a hole in the dash and have an in dash CD, pretty expensive way to do it but to each his own. I used the $2k for performance improvements, some say that's a waste of money, I say if you can get to point B faster then you won't notice the hole in the dash, besides, got to keep my sunglasses somewhere convenient.

If u just want the look then is not worth it.. my friend who had command on her car and we play around with it... is kinda hard to use when u input address and it does not sound as good as audio 10.. we use the same cd and we play it in her and mine (with audio 10) mine have more base.. that change my mind of ordering the command from MB now I am planing to install a after market GPS right under Audio 10 it looks good with 7" display and with the new DVD map which it access faster. I have my eyes set on alpine or pioneer bouth I can just enter the bussiness phone # with out typeing the address they can pull the address from data base.. I think I am going to go with pioneer since it also have voice control on it =)

1 vote for COMAND

Hey, I'm Canadian where the COMAND option is worth over ten percent of the base vehicle.

And still I bought it.

I'm with you guys that HAD to have it.

Sure you can get cheaper nav systems. Maybe it doesn't sound as good as audio 10.

But man, is it the coolest toy on the face of the earth!!!

Think you're going to love your C class? You're right.

And you'll love your COMAND system even more.

Life doesn't get much better than cruising around town in a mercedes with a COMAND system.

i really appreaciate everones opinion. being born and raised in southern california, actually a 4th generation californian, i know my way around pretty much anywhere i need to go. there are places that i need to go to mapquest, but i have the basics down. i know myself though, and im afraid if i dont get it, i would be kicking myself in the butt everyday for not having it. then again when i have it, i wont be using it all that much for nav. thats pretty much the dillema. though it does look cool, fill the void as well, but it is expensive, apparently doesnt sound as good either, so there are the pros and cons. i guess different strokes for different folks applies here. i still think im gonna get it so i dont live with the guilt of not getting it. thanks everyone!

Buy it without the nav., then go to german ebay and buy it for $1100, -euro. Then sell your factory for $200.00, you save a ton of money.....

I did and several other members here have! Do a search when you find the items email the seller to see if he will ship to the US, I used c2it.com to send the international wire transfer for a 10.00 fee, via my credit card. It was simple!

Waste of money, as far as I'm concerned. Never needed it, as I don't drive around areas I don't know, and if I do - there are maps and Internet to get precise directions.

I have comand and bose, I also now have a loaner with audio 10 and standard speakers. The comand & bose is definately better sound quality IMO, I have tried the same cd in both and played with the settings.
For me comand is expensive but I am so glad I bought it with the car, the navi and integration is great, even more so as I have the phone option as well.

"Booooo" yourself, Vadim. It does have CD naming capabilities. Note the 'CD naming' option from Silver_Lana's last picture. She just hasn't named that particular CD. See attached...
