EDIT: Nevermind, I think you're refering to the digital climatronic panel. At first I thought you were refering to the actual compressor.:o

session - I was told all 2003's have them. It is supposed to reduce wind noise when the top is open.

taylor192 - Where was yours made? It might be only the '03's from Germany (I was told most C's are made in Alabama).

I still wonder why your's has it, no-one else has mentioned it before... maybe its packaging material the dealer was too dumb to take off???

Honestly, I kinda like the look of it, so I am not complaining. According to the dealer they didn't know what it was when they got my car so they called and found out what it was. (Was that english?) Anyway, it seems to be glued on because I don't see any screws coming out. With the top open the noise is pretty bad, but nothing horrible.
I am itching to get more power already, I just have to wait until I reach 1,000 miles so I can get a base dyno. I got the car thursday and I have 540 miles already.

If i remember correctly all the MB other than the ML currently selling in the U.S. is assembled in Germany. Those C-class that are assembled somewhere else are sold outside of Europe and North America market.
All C230k's are built in Sindelfingen. Left hand drive sedans and wagons are built at Sindelfingen and Bremen, but some are assembled in Brazil. Right hand drive sedans and wagons are made in South Africa. C32's are not included in the above.
