Since I have never seen fit to reset the trip computer in my car since purchasing it, I can tell you:
3343 miles
39 mph average speed
25.5 mpg
AC set to EC maybe 2% of the time, only used heater twice.
C230K 6spd with C7 rims.
Candy@$$ driver.
Cheers, BT

It depends. Last summer I averaged 8.3 litres/10 km over 6000 kms.
Nowadays (mostly short distance trips ~30km) I avarage 9.1 - 9.7 litres/10 km

Class C, is your "W203" a C240/C320 Sedan, or C-Coupe. Mileage differs between Sedan and Coupe. How many miles on your car?
I'm assuming you have less than 5K miles on your car. You SHOULD get better gas economy as the car gets mileage on it. It seems to take 10,000 miles before the car is fully broken-in.
When my Sedan was new, I was getting about 300 miles per tank, too. But now after 10,000 miles on the odo, I'm getting 340-360 miles per tank.

2002 C240 6 spd manual
I've been getting 23 - 24 mpg in my 6 spd C240 using the AC 95% of the time in 60% highway / 40% city driving. My car only has 1700 miles on it....

after 8000 miles
Im getting about 20 - 21 mpg mixed between city and highway. Seems like I visit the gas station much less now than when I got the car 7 months ago. I dont think much about it till I see a question like this and it makes me think about it. Otherwise I just give em the card and fill it up.

I have a 240 with 6k on the car already; does using the AC matter that much? I heard it shouldn't affect the mileage as much anymore with these newer models.

I dont' drive my car hard at all
Using 18" wheels ... auto... and my computer hasn't been reset for about 4000KM's... and my average mileage is only 18.5
What am I doing wrong? EC mode is hardly ever used but does it make ta tmuch of a difference?

I have over 12K miles and I average over 23 miles per gal. On a trip I will get 29-30 and around town less than 20.
If I punch it alot I know the milage will evaporate but is it ever fun. My wife has another opinio though.:p

just for comparisons & grins....
.... I'm sitting at 21.5 mpg for the last 4.3k miles on my CLK55. 80/20 freeway/city driving.
If I really nurse it on a long freeway trip, I can push my one-trip mileage up to 25 mpg.
If I really have fun I can push it down to below 9 mpg :p

I track the mileage and maintenance of all my cars in a spreadsheet. Over 8,100 miles I've averaged 22.3 miles/gallon for an auto C230K. On a 800 mile round trip to North Carolina I averaged over 30 miles/gallon and that was driving at 80+ miles/hour most of the time! Most of my driving is mixed commuting to work. The AC is on maybe 1/3 of the time.
I drive it hard, I just love the performance of the engine, especially high-speed merges.

looks like your experiencing the same thing I am. Maybe it's because we have 18' wheels. As soon as I picked up my car from the dealer it went straight to the wheel shop so I never got to see how my mileage was with 16's.

I am very happy with my fuel mileage.
My car has 8800 miles getting 27.5 MPG with average speed of 60 MPH with AC. This is mostly all highway driving. I have noticed that with more city type driving the fuel mileage really drops. I would expect the average for most to be around 22-24 MPG with mixed driving. My best tank so far has been 29 MPG.
Now I need the special $300 pulley!

I dont drive too hard
But I will take on another car on open road if it looks tempting. The most fun being a S600. We cruised like missiles for about 3 miles. As a rule I dont drive it hard at all though. I just like the power.

C320, 28K miles, climate control set at 72 (which means air is usually on in So. Ca.) average 25.5 mpg overall. One weird thing happened recently though, the trip computer...not the daily accounting, but the resetable long range mileage/trip counter...reset itself while driving to the store. The way I knew was the daily trip counter said 22 miles and the long range counter said 20 miles????? I drive to Az. from So. Ca. a couple times a year and the mileage goes down with speed above 60mph. At 60 it gets above 30 mpg, at 80 it gets about 25 mpg.

fuel economy
Average over 1850 km is about 9.5 L/100 km, or 25 MPG US. The best economy achieved so far on the highway was 6.4 L/100 km (36.2 MPG US), driving at 90 km/h (56 MPH) on cruise, with air con on. At 120 km/h (75 MPH) the average over 360 km was 7.6 L/100 km (31 MPG US), air con on.
This is a C 230 K, 6 speed, 16" wheels.
The fuel economy should improve with time.
We are very impressed with the fuel economy so far. It must be said that the economy in the city is not as good, though not disastrous by any means (maybe 12.5-13.5 L/100 km).

With my lead foot and all city driving I suffer from sub-15mpg. But, its my fault. On those times when I do hit the road I get above 25mpg on a trip greater than 60 miles.
