i might spend $30 a month. My office is about 2.5 miles from my house, so i can go to work and back all week on a quarter tank. I don't go out that much just usually work and home. But when I do I get pretty decent gas milage. I have noticed that the mpg drops off after you get above 90mph. But cruising at 60mph I get around 32mpg.
PS: I can sometimes get away with driving one of my parents car, therefore using their gas.

I usually drive the Coupe about 700 miles a month (around $50 of gas at $1.80 a gallon); I use my other car (an old-@ss Integra) about 300 miles a month for about $15 of gas ($1.60 per gallon).

I fill up every 4 workdays as I commute 90 miles a day. Gas at $1.85 a gallon and average 25 mpg, this equates to about $150 a month. I drive the wife's ML on the weekends.

Apologies, 14 us gallons = 11.67 uk gallons. We pay £3.40ish (0.75 per litre) per gallon so that is £39.68 ($60 us dollars). Now you know why we are so keen on diesels.

Fuel is cheap in US, no wonder you have such big cars and for 10% of the world population create 25% of the world pollution. But who knows if fuel was so cheap here maybe we would be the same.

I spend on average $100 a month, but that's for my C240 and my MGB Roadster! Gas has been averaging about $1.50/gallon (premium) in Houston, TX for the past couple of weeks.

damn you ask this question
mine get's average of 16.9 mpg, $1.74/gallon, and i have driven 7000 miles over the past 5 month.
7000/16.9 = 414.2
414.2/5 = 82.84
82.84 * 1.74 = 144.15
each month is about $150 for gas, and could be more.

that's probably because the car is still new. wait till about 5k miles, the mileage will get better. When i first got my car the city driving mpg was only 10 mpg, now it's around 14-15

don't be too sad. My window sticker says the city mpg should be 18 and i'm only getting 14-15. But highway driving is pretty accurate though. 20-21 mpg just like the window sticker said. or did it said 23 fwy mpg...
oh well...

thanks for the compliment
i heard somewhere on the forum that the AMG is having problem with the production of the 18 inch double-spoke wheels. The earliest possible date to get those wheel is in march i think. That's why people with 03 CL55 and S55 are not getting those rims. Instead they have different 18' rims with smaller width.
oh...and the 17 double spoke doesn't fit the CL, the S, and the NEW E.

As for 17 mpg on an awd car with a V6 and auto trans, not too shabby, I only get about 20-22 average with my 2wd, 4 cyl, manual trans coupe. Sure on pure highway I can get over 30 but not in real world driving. It will improve, possibly 2-3 mpg over time.

Gas Mileage
I noticed after one day of having my 18" on that my gas mileage is extremely low (around 16-18 mpg). The car is also lower! Is this normal to everyone that has changed their wheels and suspension? thanks...

lower?
If the car's lower, then you must not have got the correct wheel/tire combination. This could be part of the reason for a decline in fuel economy - the engine would be turning faster at all speeds compared to before. Ideally, when switching wheels and tires, you should aim to get the same tire diameter (hence, same circumference) as the original tires had.
Another part of the reason for the poor fuel economy would be the significantly higher rolling resistance of the new tires, which would have a larger contact patch.
Finally, I would raise the spectre of increased weight - big wheels generally weigh more than smaller ones, all other things being equal. This not only penalises fuel economy, but also acceleration and real-world roadholding, partly due to the (probably) higher unsprung weight of the wheel and tire.

Gas Mileage
I bought a brand new C240 back in 2001.
Overall I am happy with the car except for the gas usage
I get less than 200 miles on a full tank of gas - this is with local driving and after warming up the car in the a.m for approx. 3-5 mts.
I was told that the gas mileage significantly improves after 7k miles.
The car has almost 10k miles and I see no change.
Any body else with this car see a problem or is this normal?
Please let me know
