"Extra" Fiber optic cable removal- help!

I've read lots of threads about the "extra" unused fiber optic cables in the trunk, but I want to know if anyone has any more information about how to remove it for use on a glovebox CD changer. I removed the trunk lining and I located the unused FO cables, but they are routed through a penetration in the top right of the trunk. From what I read it seems like quite a few people have used these wires- how the heck do you remove it? Do I need to trace this thing back to the dash???

I just got a used freebie CD changer. I bought my car used but from paperwork that came with it, it looks like the previous owner had the CD changer. In my glovebox, the 3-wire connector is there, but no fiber optic connection. It could have fallen inside when the previous owner removed the changer, but I don't want to take any chances before I take apart my interior.

Thanks in advance.

I was able to find mine in the coupe. Had to remove the plastic covers and carpet. Are in a sedan or coupe?
Perhaps in your car, those cables are in use for Bose or something?

Hard to tell without looking.
You'll need to pull the trim and radio out to see whats what.
Thats not difficult. Search on audio 10 install.

found 'em, just can't remove one

I have a sedan. I found them fine thanks to other threads on the forum under the panels in the trunk. I just don' t know how to remove one to use in my glovebox. There are three unused fiber optic plugs (still wrapped in protective foam from the factory)- trouble is, they are routed somewhere to the side of my backseat and I don't want to take apart my backseat and the whole interior to use one. I don't have the Bose system. I'll try searching on audio 10 install.

Somewhere around here is a DB2 routing pdf.
I only have the printout, not the link.

Thanks. I don't know if I'll try to fish this cable back the head unit. I'll probably just buy one if I have to disassemble my interior all the way back to the stereo. I told myself that I wasn't going to tear this car apart...but here I am. Even if I don't use the document, it's definitely interesting.

Removing the H/U is no big deal, and routing the fiber to the glove box is pretty easy as well. The fiber has probably been removed from the old changer. Post back if you need help adding the fiber into the loop.

There's an order that things have to be in for it to work.
If you don't find the db2 routing docurment, I could make you a copy and mail it for a small fee...cover my time, and reproduction.

Wow, thats not the one I was referring to, but awesome just the same.
The one I have is Subject: "db2 fiber optic configuration and version coding"
Nothing shows up on google.
The bottom of the page says "S-SI-82.54/135 August 2000"
and it's "Service Information: from Mercedes Benz.
Swear, I got it here, but might have been at the defunct 'other' site.
