Smile C30 Clear Lenses

I have a 2002 C240 and I noticed that the headlamp lenses are kinda hazed. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get the ones that are on the C30 coupe?

Coupe headlight lenses are substantially different than sedans....
They wont fit without modification to the body, hood and bumper.

if want the projection bi-xenon headlamps that are clear you can get the ones from the C32, C320 and C240. they would fit yours. they are pricey though, but would clear up the haze and give you xenon headlamps. im not sure if a retrofit is cost effective from a halogen headlamp car. i think it is and just requires reprogramming the ECU to recognize the bi-xenons. there are some threads here of 2001-02 owners installingthe 2003 clear projector style headlights. i think there may even be a posted retrofit of a halogen to bi-xenon. run a search and see what you come up with.

If the coupe lenses does not fit the sedan. Will the new 2003 sedans (eg. c32) have the clear lenses? Or is it still the same ones from last year?

I presently have the xenon from 2002, I just want to replace the outside lense. Is that possible? If so how do I do it?

thanks

Only if a car is equipped with the bi-xenon headlights, otherwise they're the same.

The previous version of the xenon lights require the "hazed" lens to properly focus the halogen high beam.

So my version of xenon would not work properly if I bought a set of clear lenses? Is that correct?

from what ive read in previos threads, its a direct change. no extra wiring, or anything. since you have xenons then you wouldnt have to reprogram the ECU to recognize the xenon headlights. there was a thread here where someone swapped the 2002 xenons on their C32 w/ the new clear projector xenons. i tried to run a search but couldnt find it. maybe i was putting in the wrong words, maybe i saw it on another board. ill keep trying and let you know, but from what i remember i thought that xenons from 2002 are a direct swap with the 2003 bi-xenon headlights.

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ighlight=xenon

this thread is someone who swapped halogen for bi-xenon with no problems with wiring. they did have to make a trip to the dealer to change the xenon present setting in the ECU. i would imagine if a non-xenon halogen W203 can do it, then a 01-02 xenon equipped W203 would have no problems. ill keep looking for the other thread but someone who had the older xenon and swapped for bi-xenons did it with no problem.

Is it possible just to change the lense cover. I am not looking to change my current xenon lights. I am quite happy with the current xenon and its too expensive to buy the new bi-xenon unit. Can I just take the existing hazed lense cover and replace it with the new clear one?

thanks

solaraxis, it is not possible to change just the lenses. The bi-xenon headlights with the clear lenses are projector type lights where the reflector shape controls the beam pattern. Non-projector headlights, whether they are HID or halogen, use the fluted lenses to control the beam pattern. If you put the clear lenses on you car, you would probably blind those ahead of you and you wouldn't see very well because the light is going everywhere. It would be like trying to drive using flood lamps.

wait a minute....
Solar....do you have FACTORY Xenon? Take it to the dealer and have them replace it under warranty. It sounds like you have moisture or condesation inside the assembly.
If this was an aftermarket mod....then you're screwed.

See Garage
I think Rick is onto something. By hazing, if we're talking about a non-clear appearance of the glass (not the presence of focusing facets) then I would think a seal is out of whack, allowing moisture and maybe dust residue to enter the unit... a definite warranty visit.
