So, I am cruising at my usual leisurely pace of 75 MPH (on a 60 MPH area) on my way back from work, when I notice flashing lights on my mirror. Naturally, my first thought is "****, there go my insurance rates." Anyway, to shorten the story, the state troopre comes back his car rather quickly, gives me warning, and says, "So, how do you like the car, anyway?" We talked for a good 15 minutes about the car, its features (he loved the panorama sunroof), the price, and so forth. I even gave him the name of the dealer, and some price ranges with which to start the negotiating. I walked away sighing in relief and with a big grin on my face.
There is no doubt that I was speeding, and going well over the 10 MPH over the speed limit. The trooper either did not give me a ticket to avoid ticking me off, or he stopped JUST to ask me about the car.
Now, what other car does that?

Well, what I meant to say was that he did not want to give me a ticket (and tick me off) because he wanted to talk to me about the car. Anyway.... I got a kick out of it. I AM, however, doing the speed limit on that stretch of the highway, though.

I have a similar story, except he clocked me at 157 mph! (true story, not made up), first thing he said is "You know I can take you to jail for this", I replied "yes, but it is just that I was testing my NOS and you know I just wanted to see what it could do", he replies "did you know that the use of NOS on the roads is forbidden?", I replied "If I knew I wouldn't have told you"Originally posted by Kaefer

This was on my Impala SS, we spend 35-40 minutes talking about the car and stuff, he let me go with out a warning, or a ticket, just asked me to close the bottle and take it easy from there on.
So another car i kow does that is a 96 Impala SS

You guys are so lucky...
Long story short, I got written warning on NJTPK @76miles, because of passing unmarked police car
. Damn.
I am just wondering how long it is showing on their computer. Anybody have any idea?

Short story: I was pulled over for doing 105 in a 70 zone, on the 101 fwy in Central California. My excuse was that the car was brand new [2 days old], and my turn in car was a Civic...he had never seen the new C, complimented it and gave me a "stern verbal" warning!!!
I knew then that a type of car can make a difference to the law!...sometimes.

Well, guess what?!? I got stopped again last night! And yes, by the same cop!! LOL
He says to me: "Sir, did I not stop you no more than 2 weeks ago for speeding?" I was once again doing 80 on a 60. This time he DID give me a ticket, but it was only for doing 69 on a 60!
Cool, cop, I have to say.

Unless maybe it was this cop:

Hey, I am just happy he kept it under 10 MPH over. Only 50 bucks penaly and no points. Had he ticketed me for 80 on a 60, I'd be looking at a fine of $250 and four points! Now, THAT'S not cool! Originally posted by pocholin

So true. I often feel so inadequate in my Corrado. But with the Corrado's tiny 1.8 liter 4 cylinder supercharged engine and 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds, do you blame me?Originally posted by Kaefer

"On a cop's salary!" Well, on my cop's salary I'll be taking delivery of my 2003 C320 4Matic in two days. I just traded in my 1999 C230 Sedan and am looking forward to the new one. But while I am waiting for the new one to be delivered Monday, I may spend some of my spare time driving my 2003 Harley Heritage Softail Classic or my customized 2003 Jeep Wrangler.
Not bragging, but I get this same attitude from some of the people I contact when they also think they are better than I. I'm not overpaid for what I do. Let's not judge by one's occupation!
