Cabinet fell on my hood... best fix?
A cabinet in the garage fell on my black 2004 coupe's hood!
Dented it slightly over the headlights and bruised it near the mb badge.
Honest indie body shop wants $600 for the hood and paint, plus the top plastic "chrome" piece on the grille was slightly pushed in. I figured why not get a new 2005 grille while they are at it.
Should I have it fixed for that price or what would you guys do? At that price, can't I get a brand new hood?

white and whiter
if your body shop is saying they're getting you a new hood for $600 it's not bad. usually it's $300 to paint the hood, so $300 for parts and labor is cheap.
hope the cabinet don't fell on blakey's car...lol

An antique art deco armoire fell backwards onto the hood -- a falling box of books pushed it over onto the car. So it sort of was "resting" on the hood when i got to the garage.
It will be 750 to put a new hood and new grille on. The dents on the black paint are almost not noticable... but I see them. I figure if I am going to get the front hood done, might as well get the 05 grille.
Anyway, if you guys think this is a good deal, I'll save up. The coupe hoods get nicked over time anyway so it will look nice and shiny when redone.

This would be covered by your comprehensive portion of your insurance minus your deductible. You are insured, aren't you?

The armoire was moved to the garage temporarily for an Xmas party...

Thanks that is an excellent idea... paint was not removed... if my camera would work I'd send photos. Also owe the board photos on my wood interior on the coupe.

A good paintless dent repair place should be able to get it out... I've seen them do some pretty awesome work!
There is a video I saw on youtube where a guy threw a bowling ball at a porsche qtr panel on purpose and completely fixed the dent.

Dents from armoire on hood... Don't know if you can see them -- one crease over left headlights; another flat smudge on right of hood badge.
Also, new c class staggered 17" sedan wheels (my coupe is early 04 and therefore, the oem wheels were not staggered)
and the mbz germany burl wood interior for the coupe. You can't see it but the stick shift is also leather and wood. I like it tons better than the aluminum. But no door pieces; don't know why.
Other mods: smoked side markers/smoked rear 05 tails/debadged "kompressor" on back/new leather seats replaced cloth.
iPhone takes greenish poor photos. I'll try for better sunlight next time.
Called an sos-dent repair guy, thanks again guys for the tip for the dented hood!

Which has reminded me that anyone who lives in earthquake country (me too) should take a close look in the garage at what could fall over onto the cars. Opening cabinet doors, etc.
