Black top, a little disappointed.

Well, to follow up my faux cf diffuser that was received relatively well, I tried the same vinyl wrap product on the top, but in black. I was hoping to get the same result as painting it, but without it being permanent. All I can say is I should have painted it. Oh well, so much for trying something new. Live and learn.

What's wrong with it? I was thinking about doing that also since I don't trust that repainting the roof will be as good as factory paint running the risk of fading and oxidizing.

The pictures hide a lot, but if you had a painted roof parked next to it, it would be quite obvious. It's just not as reflective or glossy as I would like it to be. It's not bad and to some it might still be worth it. I'm sure a lot depends on how picky you are.

painting it will be better then a vinyl. When I did mine I did 5 coats of black and 3 coats of clear. However, just by force of habit, I waxed my car every time I washed it. Mine had a lot of depth.

Points for tryin somethin different. But I'm kinda with you on it...

Is it because of the vinyl that you used? Any air bubbles?

That's nice!! How long have you had it painted? I take it you did it yourself?

No doubt there are different types of vinyl and I don't know where this one falls, good, bad or otherwise. There are a few very small air bubbles, about 1/8" or smaller and they should go away after a few sunny days just like tinted windows.

Their are a few vinyl treatments that I am going to try to shine it up a bit, but there is nothing I can do about the poor depth/reflection. I'll give it some time and if it still bugs me, I'll have it removed and go have it painted.

Another thing for me is to wait and see what it looks like next to a black painted roof spoiler and tinted windows.

Thanks, the more I look at your car, the more I like it. I don't understand why the Canadian sport models are different from the states. Anyway, I'll probably get coilovers and wheels this spring/summer, but I'm not convinced bi-x are worth the money for me.

I can see what you meant by it not being as shiny as the rest of the car. But overall it doesn't look too bad.

it got painted in early may. I got rid of the car in septemeber, but I gaurantee it will be like that [if washed/waxed] for a looooong time. My OpenSkye system is like that from the factory as well. Just gotta take care of it, as with anything. Also being that it was parked in the garage helps. wasnt exposed to the elements. good luck. keep us posted.

Looks good man. I would tint your windows to give the car a bit more contrast.

looks good. vinyl choice could've been better with those glossy type vinyls or even the CF vinyl this one company sells.
