if you are anywhere near OC/LA, take it to Gold Star Audio. ask for Jay, this shop is amazing; they do super clean work and dont try to rip you off like other places in town. i just got a kenwood navi/dvd head unit and alpine drop down dvd unit installed and they did a great job.

Dude why did you buy the subs before knowing how to do this. You need a line out converter.

Unless you are planning on adding an amp(s), changing out the stock speakers will only allow your car to be faster due to the lighter wallet you will be carrying. The stock speakers are lacking power and ability to handle power, not quality. Before you spend any more money on door speakers- spend some time and money on properly deadening and sealing your doors. Speakers only sound as good as the install/environment they are in.

I'm no expert when it comes to Audio. I do agree with you that the stock system lacks power but not quality. I was also considering at one point changing out my stock speakers and slapping on my ARC amps from my truck. But can you expand on how to properly deaden and seal my doors? Are you referring to Dynomat?

BTW: nice set up rrpnow. I'm also thinking of adding 2 - 10" subs. I'm an Image Dynamics fan. I love those subs. I had 4 - 10's in my truck.

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...reatments.html MDF rings under the speakers, clay around them, seal any and all holes in the door skins, egg foam behind the drivers, sound deadener/mass. It's time consuming, but you get much better performance out of your drivers. If done correctly you can get subpar speakers to sound much better than quality drivers that have just been dropped into factory prepped locations.

I like Raammat and Dynamat Extreme the most. I've used most all of them in some form or another in the past. Price/performance- I like Raammat. I also like the fact that it's a pretty small operation and the owner is a great guy that's easy to talk to.

Daym.. just looking a the pic that sure looks like a TON of work! I guess you weren't kidding when you said "spend some time". hahaha. Time is what I don't have now a days.. 8 month old twins take up most my time at home. I guess I'll have to wait till they're big enough.
Thanks for the links tho.

i suggest you change out the front tweeters on the door. I have infiniti kappas in them with stock head unit and im surprise at the sound it makes. Im running one 12 with mb quarts mids and highs in the rear with infinit kappa tweeters in the front . The sound is amazing. I recommend changing out the fronts first.

Post pics of your sub setup please!

I'm reviving this thread, cuz i'm planning on doing a sub setup. I couldnt find any newer threads... I was thinking of just doing an infinite baffle sub on the rear deck, but haven't really heard any positive opinions about it. I'm now leaning towards a custom enclosure in the trunk. Most likely 1 10" sub. Nothing too fancy, but something nice that doesnt take up too much room. Im not looking to boom, just something that sounds and looks good. I havent seen too many setups lately, so please post some pics of your setup, thanks!!!

i wanted a sub but didn't want to sacrifice too much trunk space. so i ditched my spare tire (knock on wood) and i had a custom sealed fiberglass box fitted housing a 12" JL W3.

pics to follow.

Id like to see pics when you get a chance... my buddy just had a box fitted into the spare tire wheel well but was able to keep the spare tire in it. I didnt really look at it, so im not sure what was exactly done, but it sounds really good.

Hey bro! Thanks for the compliment!

I originally wanted to have a floating amp (all wires tucked away, and the amp on an angle in front of the subs) but my amp had a couple cosmetic scratches, so my shop actually put it behind the suede shroud. I can remove the shroud at anytime to tweak the settings. I just need some dynomat, my license plate is rattling a bit.

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Also, has anyone tapped into the power wire that leads to the rear SAM? If so, how did you go about doing it.
Had mine installed & nothing was disconnected.
MAde the sub-box myself...nothing fancy.
I wanted it to be as discreet as possible.

Mine is just simple. Nothing extraordinary but still hurts my ear if turned up.

looks good, i was looking into this style also, doesn't take up much room, uses unnecessary space. You made that yourself right?? Does anyone know if there is a company that pre-makes these types of enclosures that fit there? Ive searched online everywhere and cant find one.
