Ebay for exhaust tips and grill?
is the stuff on ebay good? I bought my clear corners from there based off this forum and they're great. what about ebay grills and exhaust tips?
I saw grills on formymercedes.com and they're pricey...
Or for exhaust tips, should i go to the dealer? I have an 05' C230 SS and HATE that big oval thingy...
TIA

the ebay tips look ugly, you're better off staying with the oval or getting a new exhaust...you search the forum and look for pictures of the ebay tips, you'll see what I'm talking about....although im not sure if tips also stick out on the amg bumper as well....?

Ebay exhausts are mostly all generic universal setups. So you're taking a risk of buying something you don't see and handle personally.
The grills however have worked out well for members in the past. you may want to check the grill thread.

I think the stock grill makes it looks classier and the CL grill makes it look sporty. But the CL grill will slightly differentiate yours from most C's you see on the road. I rarely see CL grills in the bay area.

the term "ebay tips" is very broad. just because it comes from ebay doesn't mean it's junk. just depends on the brand- there's flowmaster, vibrant, mbrp, silverline, etc..... branded tips on there, which are all good. however- there are some cheap junk tips on there too. just depends on the brand- not where it comes from.
also the ebay seller referred to above with good products- that's "jakuo". i agree- good guy, with good products. my cl style grill and flat hood emblem fit well and appear to be made very well.

Thanks for the help. And yes, that guy "jakuo" is actually the one i was referring toon ebay with the grill i like. coincidentally, despite his "good" reputation, he's also one of the ones that's selling the exhaust tips that almost every response on this thread suggested I "stay away from"
Hmmm...
Anyway, thanks again

exhaust tips are lame imo anyways if you want a nice tip they cost easily 100+ you might as well change the whole muffler get some sound and looks

I looked at some of the tips on Ebay, made some calls and Emails. I found that most of them are poorly made copies of quality aftermarket tips. Most of the tips did not meet my expectations for mounting quality. They were either clumsily attached, or required a vehicle modification to fit. There is a retrofit kit to add an AMG cat back setup to a w203. A single pipe runs from the front to rear. A wye at the back makes the car look like it has dual exhaust. Since it uses genuine AMG pipes and mufflers it not only looks good, it sounds nice. There might be a tiny fraction of HP gain, but you'd need a dyno to see it.
As to the grill, I also like the one the car was born with. The CL grill with its flat hood badge to me is not as nice as the star on top. You could always omit the star in the CL grill and put a clock in there. Bill Drayton would send props. (He is Flavor Fav in the hip hop world.)

The guy's not askign what you think of the grill and tips. He's asking if they're reliable online to purchase from ebay.
Again, I'd go for the grills. It's the same stuff.
But not for the exhaust tips unless you can locate one by brand that you've seen and touched in person.
