The ONLY C230 Kompressor BLACK SERIES
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I did European Delivery for my BMW 320i back in 1982. I was able to get exactly the car I wanted that I couldn't have gotten in the US (They didn't limit you to packages so I got LSD, no radio, sunroof, steel wheels - I was going to get my own radio and alloys). I figure including travel (me and my wife), insurance, etc. I paid the same as I would have if I had bought a similar car in the New Orleans (sales tax was 9% I think and it helped that the tax only applied to the price of the car, not shipping or insurance, etc.).
The funny thing was that my car was not ready yet. So to qualify, I had to prove that I was in Europe. They gave me a form to get stamped and signed at a European consulate. We went to the consulate in Munich and they called my name to do my business.
The guy there read the form, looked up and said, "Are you NCMudbug?"
I said "Yes I am."
He then said, "Are you in Europe?".
I said, "Yes I am."
He stamped the form, I signed it and when I got back home, I gave that to the BMW dealer and they sent for my car.
I took at look at the European Delivery section of the MBUSA website. It looks like a nice program. I don't know what the relative price of the cars is though... In any event, it sounds like a lot of fun and a great way to get a car!

Here's a special preview, I haven't posted these pics yet in the thread b/c I haven't gotten that far yet, but these have to be some of my favs. Taken in front of Hangar-7 (Red Bull):

Here's a picture of it at Auto Talent getting the work done:

It's ironic that it threw the CEL on Saturday, since the C250 just landed in the US today and should be in my possession within the next week.

Prompt warm-up’s help to minimize wear (not sure if that’s a concern given your C250’s arrival :)) and reduce fuel consumption, even during a ‘harsh’ SoCal autumn.
Hard to envision how fitting a fresh thermostat would cure a rough idle at start-up.
An analogy might be that increasing a water heater’s temperature setting doesn’t necessarily make the hot water arrive at the showerhead any more quickly.
Won’t be the last time one of my harebrained theories was proven incorrect though.
If you’re looking to free up some garage space, splinter Jr. might be calling dibs on your clean Black Series.
Seems he is a little too frisky behind the wheel to inherit a C32, and that new Ford Escape Hybrid (??) he’s hoping for upon HS graduation isn’t going to happen.
Pleased to read Auto Talent is taking good care of you and your machines.

yeah, the coupe is finally here. it has to clear customs AND the USDA! when it gets to the dealer, I'm having them debadge it. "C250" and "Blue Efficiency" will be gone.
That boat had to be the slowest boat ever! But, I think also, the car was on a train from Munich to the port in Bremerhaven. I guess next time I do Euro Delivery, I'm dropping it off in Bremerhaven instead of the hotel in Munich.
haha, yes! tons of pics

your analogy sounds pretty right. I guess it was just wishful thinking and me trying to rationalize! lol
I will definitely let you know! You should talk to Drex about the Escape Hybrid. His cousin's gf has one and apparently she's not too fond of it.
Auto Talent is great. I was thinking of actually doing it myself and I realized that I don't trust myself that much to do this. They waited for me to bring it at 7:00PM, had the parts and did the change pretty quickly. And I wasn't charged very much at all. The extra littler money spent on the labor was well worth the piece of mind

here it is next to the 203, notice the OEM LED license plate lights found on the 2012's, next to the AZNOptics LED drop-in lights, lol:

First mod was having the dealer de-badge it:
