Question W203: Experience or opinions with Carlsson Threaded Sport Suspension?

I have a C320. I currently have H&R Sport springs on 19*8 [235's] & 19*9.5 [265's] HRE wheels with stock shocks. The rear tires rub slightly on swoops with a full tank & 5 people.

After a year of waiting for Koni shocks and increased compression/rebound problems, I'm looking elsewhere. The Kleemann setup is nice but $$$. So, I'm looking at Carlsson's.

1. Is the Carlsson a good setup?

2. How low is the drop? I'm looking for minimal from stock height.

3. Will a #4 spring pad help? I'm looking for a slight negative rake.

Many thanks in advance,

Rob C.

i have the h&r cup kit which includes h&r springs and bilstein shocks. it isn't that expenisive...around $600 USD. you can buy that (cheaper than carlsson), and use the shocks and your sport springs if the drop is too much. just a suggestion.

I dont think anyone here has installed the Carlsson RS suspension because its very new. No one can give you a review yet. The Carlsson RS has an adjustable height ranging from 1"-2.5". I used to have H&R cup kit on my car but I didnt like the ride, although the drop is perfect but the shocks are not as stiff as my factory AMGs. When I had my Cup Kit, I did put Dot 4 pads on the rear because the rear looked too low with my Dot 2 pads.

I am using the Renntech springs now which I like it VERY MUCH! Maybe this might be another option for you. The drop is just right - 1"-1.25". It is very expensive for a set of springs, but they are worth it.

Hope this helps!!

FYI, carllson coilover and H&R coilover are the same, Carllson just rebdge the H&R one and sell them as their product, That's what my friend who use carllson coilover told me.

According to Carlsson, It's a custom Bilstein & Eibach combo.

Your friend was wrong, Carlsson uses Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks which are valved for the springs. In my experience, the Carlsson suspension has always been very soft. If you are looking for a great handling suspension, you should look elsewhere.

Mach430, you are correct. I can't put down 2k for a suspension that my wife will be mostly driving; and I'm in escrow, in S.D. so you already know how much $$$$ I've got tied up already

I've ordered new tires [SP9000's 265/30-19] and the Carlsson Threaded Sport Suspension, so I guess I'll be a Giunea pig for the group, and hope for the best!!!

If you haven't yet bought the Carlsson suspension, consider the H&R Coilovers. We have them on our C32, and they're awesome! Definitely more money than the Carlsson kit, but it may be more of what you looking for. On the otherhand, it may be the complete opposite! If you do go with the Carlsson kit, let us know how you like it!
