Climate control?
Is the electronic climate control used in the COMAND option and C320 available/installable in the C230 coupe? I'd really like to add this if possible. MBTech ...is it possible?

It is possible, but it'd be so expensive that it wouldn't be worth it. The C240, C230, and G500 all share the same climate control system. It is completely different than the climate control used in the C320 and C32 AMG.

according to the c-class catalog, the digital climate control is not optional on the c230, 240.
basically mbtech's statement is confirmed. the 230, 240 get the analog; the 320s, c32 get the digital.

Here in Australia you can tick the option box for the Thermotronic climate A/C system (i.e. the digital display AC with extra sensors) on its own.
Point of note also, Australian buyers are not locked into "option packages" like the C1, C4 etc. that appears to be the way the US cars are supplied. The only options that are packages are the Evolution & Evo. AMG kits.
The bad side of living in Aust. is that we only get the C180 & C200K models.

Most car companies in the US are now offering packages on their options. This way, they can sell things that you may not normally buy. I think that in some cases, you can order things seperate if you want, but I'm not sure if their is an associated cost to this (special order fee). I remember on the MBUSA site, I think you can order the sunroof seperate.
I was just checking out the MB Austrialia page. I did some money conversions to see what the C180 and the C200K would cost in US$. C180= $27,696 and the C200K= $31,675 (basic, no options).
This is on today's (Jan. 12) exchange rate of 1.91 Australian to 1.00 US. I did notice that last month the rate was up to almost 2.00 Austrailian which would bring the price of the C180 close to the US price of the C230K.
Too bad they don't have the C230K available for you.

I was looking at a brochure I picked up in Canada, and it has the Comand clearly shown with the electronic climate control module. I was under the impression that was a c320...but I could be wrong.
Anyway, if it is available, I thought it would be a cool upgrade.

Actually, the main reason that packages are offerred in the US is car volume. We buy the bulk of the cars of any line of cars offerred here, including the C230 Coupe.
The inventory management becomes a nightmare and they don't want too much inventory 'fragmentation' where every car is different. By using option packages, the variations diminish helping make manufacturing easier and the individual differences decrease, making support easier.
It is easier to offer any and every option 'a la cart' for a country with a smaller purchase volume (like Australia).

Thanks for the info Rick. I never thought about it that way, but it makes sense.
I still think that it helps sell the "less popular" options on a car as well. I remember some years back looking at a car that included a second cigarette lighter in one of the option packages. Although I think this could be useful, I'm not sure how many people would opt to have it if they had to pay for it separately.
