My new gently used 05 C320

Hi everyone. Thanx again for all of your help regarding finding a more ethical So. Cal MB dealership. While I did have information filled phone conversations with several of the dealers you guys recommended, they didn't give me good news regarding the trade-in-value on my car (07 Pontiac Solstice GXP) and sort of put my high hopes for trading in that car for a used 07 C230 into the trash. Well, last weekend, I was once again lured back to Fletcher Jones with a "PROMISE" that they would make up for the "unfortunate mistake" that happened to me 2 weeks ago when I was there and do anything they could to "close the deal & make it happen for me." At this point, I figured I had nothing to lose except racking up a few more miles on my car and headed out there first thing Saturday morning. Upon arriving there, the same salesman greeted me and proceeded to show me the car he had in mind for me - a Certified, Extended Warranty 05 C320 with 19k miles on it - Silver w/black leather interior, Harmon Kardon sound, 6 disk CD changer, full pwr seats, moonroof pkg, etc... the price for me - 24.7k AND they said they were going to pay me 5k more on my trade in than the other dealerships I had contacted. The car was PERFECT, flawless, just beautiful and with 3.9% financing, I walked out of there with not only a smile on my face, a beautiful new car, but with a renewed sense of "good faith" practices from a dealership that I had, had a terrible experience with just 2 weeks before. Anyway, I am a very happy camper. I'll post pictures this weekend. I'm getting the windows tinted today!

Make sure you don't roll them up and down till you get moleskin or feltskin so your tint won't get scratched. It is a soft material called moleskin or feltskin and it goes along the door panel so the window doesn't get strached going up and down. I would get this done ASAP as our cars have issues with tint getting scratched. Do a search for window tint and feltskin on the forum if you want more information.

Yup, I had bad experience with them too even though I'm closer to FJ, but I bought the car at the different dealer.

I'm totally freaking out now! I haven't rolled the windows down yet, BUT I'm having my car washed as I type this. I looked at the prior threads regarding removal of the door panels....YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! There is no way, I can do this myself My husband is gonna kill me when I tell him HE'S going to have to do it! I guess I'll have to make it up to him later By the way, is there somewhere other than thetintshop.com local to me (ventura county or los angeles county) where I can find the felt or moleskin?

Thanks!
Wendy

Just have a tint place do it. If they do European cars then they will know what you are talking about. Mine was about $50 installed here in Michigan.

I've been using the same tint guy for the last 10 years with 3 different cars and I just got off the phone with him and asked him about using moleskin....he has never heard of it. Should I start calling around different tint shops in my area and ask them if they have it and can install it for me?? I'm still freaking out about this...I don't wanna have scratched windows!!!

Yes, call around to different shops unless your tinter covers scratching in the warranty.

That's a pretty good price if that includes labor.

W, could you give more info on the tint place you are getting the moleskin installed? I am in Westlake Village and looking for a good local shop.

Hi Brodey-
Congratulations on your new MB. I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am! Anyway, the tint shop that was kind enough to put the moleskin/felt strips on my car is located in the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks area:

Sunshield Window Tint
4704 Van Nuys Blvd.
Phone (818) 906-8468
Ask for HAMID (He was very informative)

The cost to install the moleskin/felt was $40 (a bargin as far as I'm concerned), and they told me if they had done the entire tint w/moleskin it would have cost $165 (once again a bargin) AND they do INCREDIBLE work. Every car that was there was either a MB, BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc... There must have been 8 people seated in the waiting room. I was in and out in about 15 minutes.

If you call to set up an appointment, tell them that Wendy referred you. If you use them, I'd like to know if they were as nice to you as they were to me. Good luck.

Also, THANK YOU to everyone for their posts regarding the moleskin install, especially to SHAKE - thanks again!

Wendy

The only sure way of knowing if your car has moleskin/felt installed is to remove the door panels and look for it - it will replace or be placed over the weather striping in the door panels (I think that's right) If I'm incorrect - I apologize....I'm sure someone will be kind enough to correct me

Thanx Frank! It's the luxury sedan (I think) It must be, cuz it doesn't have the AMG body styling. What other stuff would it have or not have if it's the sport model? I have learned SO much in the last month about the C Class that my head is spinning I originally was going to get a used 07 C230 and found out that every car had different options, some with power seats, some didn't, some had a sunroof, some didn't, etc....THEN I was exposed to the C320 model, and again a whole new world open for me, except this model seemed to have more consistent options offered. At any rate, I am SO happy with it although I can think of a few mods that I'd like to do....

I still have many questions to ask - I'm searching like a crazy person on the forum everyday!

Wendy
