Finaly decide to buy a costum cold air ....

So today i spend all day long in a shop to make me a costum intake ... It began with a little problem .. It has 2 seperate places where it takes is air when you remove the Black box and only one Trottlebody ?? !!
So the guy start to costumize some piping, some braquets, and tryed to make this all fit . We had problem over problem, now i know why not so many people have costum intake ... When its all finish, he was in a hurry and forgot to install a place to put the vacuum hoses . Me Im Zero when it comes to mechanic and really not seen that tis part was missing so i go from the shop and this is where the problems begin ... First of all it was snowing so i cant try it too much, once i was on the clear road, i try it and i did not have any power at all, it was like i was driving a Civc . So maybe 5 mins later i begin to smell oil burn so i stop and open my hood and i saw oil all over the engine ! I was so mad ! It came from the Gauge to check oil .. The first thing i did it was to turn off the engine and cry . After i check the engine and then i saw the vacuum hose the was not pluged and not even built on my Cold air .. He even put a tape to cover the Hoses and i was suppose to go back there toomorow just to make finitions .,i call the guy and he was really sorry, so i was not far from the garage so i check how much oil i was missing and its only 1.5 liters, so i got back to the shop and left my car there for the nigth ...
I want to know if its possible that my car was really not powerful and all the oil leak from the oil gauge came from the hoses that was not plugued ?

Thank, sorry for my really bad english

Ps : I will put some pics towmorrow .... And the sound was really REALLY nice !

I can't help much but since it's weekend you might want to be a little more patient. I'm sure someone would help when they wake up and see your post. Good luck.

these cars don't really benefit from a CAI like many other cars. The stock intake and aibox do a very good job. I say ask for your money back and put the stock airbox back on.

OK ive been to the dealer ship to chek codes on the check engine . These are the codes :

P2032-001 : EGR, very slight fault leak (p0456) indicator lamp on
P203B-002 : G3/1 C02 sensor (stored after CAI) Positive short (P0138)
P2038-001 : Charging pressure too low. (p0243) Stored
P203A-002 : exchange valve adjusment part, practical potentiometer 1 signal voltage too low, fault indicator on (p0245)
P203A-004 : exchange valve adjusment part, practical potentiometer 2 signal voltage too high, fault indicator (p0246)
P203A-064 : exchange valve adjusment part, urgency start position not reach ,fault indicator lamp on
P2039-001 : exchange valve adjusment part, not initialization (p0243) Stored

Well that about it .The dealer reset all, now i dont have any check engine on, but i still have very low power . Its better than it was before the reset, but I still dont have the power i use to have . Any help would be very appreciated .

Ps: I did about 30 km to go home and the Engine light is not ON

: were you thinking?

Let me get this straight

- You wanted a CAI
- You brought it to a shop, hoping they can make one custom
- You obviously didn't do any research on what's been tried / not tried
- You have absolutely no idea about car modifications and why they work and what to do (i.e. Not a DIY guy).

Why the heck did you do this? I don't want to kick you while you're down and having problems, but this is THE MAIN REASON, I always recommend that for ANYBODY that wants to do stuff to their car, make sure they have done the research and they at least educate themselves as to why certain mods don't work on the m111 AND m271!

Look people, if you don't know what you're doing and you wouldn't know how to explain what is going wrong, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T TRY TO DO CUSTOM MODS!

I seriously put this out there as a HUGE caveat to all you Newbs! This is not a Civic where the parts that are broken can be replaced for super cheap, people.

I hope it works out for you Showtime 7.

might be me, but i'm seriously not understanding this ****...why would the shop you go to take apart or mess with the vacuum lines? If you are making a custom instake all you need to do is take off the original at where the filter ends and make fit a hose or whatever you want to do. There ISN'T any sensors or what not things you shouldn't touch. why the hell are you talking about throttle body? tell me your stupid idiot mech didn't take apart the throttle body.

How 'bout "intake"?

You have to remember m111 was discontinued after 2002. That's besides the point though. There have been enough attempts on an intake for the supercharged i4 engines (m111 and m271) that it was determined that the stock intake system was designed very well and not much improvement would come from a custom intake, if any at all.

Can you elaborate? What do you mean by the Eaton Supercharger kills a cylinder? You mean by doing a cai mod?

Showtime did you ever get these codes fixed? I have the cai and O2 problems also.
