Just got my first MB! '05 C230K Sport Coupe
Seems ceap to me. Anyways, I have a few questions as this is my first MB. I am a major DIYer and not afraid to dig in to a car.1) Think this is a good price?
2) What things should I check out and look over?
3) Any inherent problems to this engine/car that I should keep an eye on?
4) Anything else you might want to tell someone who knows nothing about these cars other than they look and drive SOWEET!?....other than use the serch function......

Anyways, here are some pics and I look forward to learning from all of you and helping out once I study up!

Did you receive the service records? Regardless, when I buy a used car it is treated to a major service straight away. As a fellow DIY’er, I’d like to think it’ll be treated with a little more care than the flunkies at the local quick-lube joint could muster. It establishes a mileage/time interval baseline for future upkeep. Servicing the air, oil and cabin filters is cheap and easy, as is lubricating the sunroof mechanism. Regularly replacing fluids such as ATF, differential, and brake are perfunctory (easier than your M!) and will easily recoup their modest investment if you intend to keep it a while.
There are several trusted vendors who can supply parts and consumables for far less than the typical MB dealer. To be forthright, there are some known issues with the W203, but I’m never one to spoil a honeymoon! Most have been successfully cured without too much drama or expense, and there may be a DIY sticky to help guide you through.
Wishing you many pleasant miles. Hope you enjoy your time here as much as I.

Welcome.
1) Think this is a good price?
YES
2) What things should I check out and look over?
General stuff...do you have service records?
If it was done by the dealer you can get a printout.
At 80k if not done yet, fuel filter, and if auto tranny a full flush would
be benificial, and the spark plug coil packs seem to die around
50K + so plugs and new CP's would be good if never done.
3) Any inherent problems to this engine/car that I should keep an eye on?
See $12 hose DIY thread.

I'm actually in the process of wrapping my trims...metallic red!
its metallic black as of now, I've had it for about 6 months and I'm sick of it!
but yes, good to see another coupe around!
Mine came with those wheel, standard.
The integrated phone system works well, but is expensive. I wouldn't use the phone without it.
Part of the savings are attributed to MB excluding the dipstick. The wingless dipstick tool mods, starting with post #20, show an undocumented vehicle feature.
The principal usage for my vehicle is to collect roadway sand and salt dispensed to augment public works budgets. This resulted in the parking brake linkage failing to fully release without assistance. This topic shows the fix, starting with post #26. It may not be applicable to an FL car.

First thing I did actually before even driving off!
I've never seen so much wood on a C before. Is it stick on stuff?
