Tein coilover owners please come in!
Hey everyone, my rims from DPE should be here soon, which means I'll need my coilovers even sooner. For those of you with the Tein Basic and Tein SS, if you can tell me what you think of your coilovers, I would greatly appreciate it.
The main reason for making this thread is because I've heard from a few Tein owners (on this forum) that their coilovers squeak, and it's pretty annoying. I wanted to get the KW's, but I hear they may not clear my wheels because their springs are longer, which will cause them to rub against the tires.
Any help and input regarding the Tein Basics and SS would really help me out a lot.
Thanks in advance!

I installed my teins, then after a few months of driving, I started to have squeaking sounds coming from the rear. I took apart the rear suspension and reinstalled it making sure everything was clearing all other suspension. The squeak persisted. I figured it couldn't be the coilovers and sprayed some silicone lubricant on my rear sway bar bushings and the noise went away. I had to replace the bushings. So I bought a new Eibach rear sway bar that came with bushings and now I'm squeak free!
I think that changing the suspension will inevitably create more stresses on other parts of our "older" cars which will cause noises and faster wear, thus other suspension bushings/parts should be investigated in addition to the basic coilover clearances/rubbing.

And hey, from you're sig your car looks pretty low, is that the lowest the basics go?
Thanks again.

white and whiter
basic and SS has no difference in height adjustability.
personally I like the SS more because you have the damper adjustability. just ask those who have sat in my car when sometimes I had it adjusted soft and sometimes hard.
currently I have my front set softer than the rear..the only reason is my rear sway bar murders my endlinks way too fast because of the stiffness and the way I drive.

No, I could be lower IF I had gotten better tires w/ rounded side walls... The front could probably go down about another inch while the rear could probably go down about half another quarter or half inch.

All I really want is less body roll, and a firmer ride than the stock 230SS suspension. This summer I'll be getting sway bars, so it should take care of most of the body roll.
Thanks again!

Its pretty darn firm... I live w/ it. Heck, I think it could be firmer :x There is plenty less roll, but sway bars in addition to the basics reduce roll by ALOT.

Yep, actually doing something most people on here would frown upon.
I went with a 20" DPE GT7's (20x8 fronts, and 20x9.5 rears), stepped lip, brushed aluminum, rivetless. The main reason I asked whether or not the Tein squeaked was because I heard they fit better than the KW's, and I need all the clearance I can get with the 20's.
I promise the car won't look ghetto!
