Cracked rims!!!
Well I had a flat the other day, took the wheel off, went to a shop to get the nail taken out, but there was no nail! the guy showed me three hairline cracks on the inside of the wheel, right on the edge, each evenly spaced!!!
and thats what the leak was. I have Brabus replica monoblock S, anyone have any experience with cracking on their wheels? is it a good idea to fix or try to find a new one (as i currently see none available)

I cracked my rim on a pothole last year and took it to a local guy that weld it back for like $50...any experience welder probably worked on rims before and i haven't had a problem since

i have seen original hamann split into 2, even lorinser and brabus with cracks, so no one can convince me that authentics won't crack or even have less chance. it's just preference, if you're willing to pay top dollar, then good for you.

I have a rim that was made too porous inside and the air would slowly leak out over a 3 week period. I'm in the process of getting a new one or repairing the old one.

I fully support my point btw. It's more about if you can afford what you want than authentic vs replica. why? because I've seen ridiculous damages on OEM and reputable brand of wheels. I don't think anyone will say Rial Daytona is POS because it's half of what the BBS LM cost while they look very similar with the mesh design.

so best quote i've gotten is $125 to repair it. however i cant find anyone to garuntee the work. they will garuntee with one, sometimes two cracks, but with three they all say they wont garuntee it. they garuntee their work will be good, but not that the rim wont crack again in a few years. Last guy i talked to today, seemed very knowledgable and reputable said that its possible they may never crack again after this, or its possible it happens in 2 years.

Authentic Kleemann LM's bend like butter - had a member here who wanted to get rid of them because it was a persistent problem that even sending them in several of times did not solve the problem
My brothers authentic MB OEM wheel had little air leaks and he was wondering for weeks why he kept losing pressure.
as mentioned before; its all personal preference.
btw - how much does it cost to send in and replace a lip from a 3 piece? anywhere close to $200 and you have the cost for a new replica wheel , right?
