Ever Change Your Battery?

Just wanted to ask and see if anyone on here replaced their battery in their merc?

If so any comments/concerns/ideas you would like to share?

Some of you guys probably thinking this guy only posts whenever he needs something.

One suggestion. Support your 12V system while you replace the battery and you might save some headache

I replaced mine about 2 months ago. Some faults will occur afterwards, i did not get all that are in the thread but did get a few. Most of them kinda (keyword "kinda") fixed themselves over time with the use of the car, like the auto up/down on the windows.

Not at all. That’s why this forum exists.

When my OE battery exceeded its useful service life after five years of faithful service, I simply called MB’s roadside assistance at (800) 367-6372. Within an hour, a gentleman arrived to install a new one. No labor charge, and the correct factory part (w/ pro-rated warranty) was doing its duty. He re-synched everything, too.

I never regret twisting a wrench, but sulfuric acid and MB’s electronics are not to be triffled with, imho.

I called roadside assistance, too, when my former C240's battery gave out with the car in the garage. Never regretted that decision. If I remember correctly, it was about $130. The guy changed the battery with the car in the garage. I never had the problems with losing all the settings that others have posted. To me, this kind of service is why I drive a Mercedes.

C230 2.3 Manual Coupe
I went to Walmart and grabbed I believe an 850 CCA battery, took the old battery out, put in the new one, and gave the old one to Walmart and got my core deposit. I'll probably get complaints why I would go to Walmart for a battery for my Mercedes. One reason would be Walmart has 223.6 billion dollar market cap compared to Daimler AG 79.38 billion.

I'm quite surprised about the 800 Mercedes customer service that a couple of people got. Two years ago my car kept dying in Las Vegas under 110 + fahrenheit heat and no one answered the 800 number. It was a Saturday afternoon and one would think cars break down on weekends also. The local Mercedes dealer in Las Vegas told me to just call a tow truck and bring it in to be checked Monday. After 15 minutes of idling the car ran normal again.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Nope. 6.5 years and still tickin'.
But then, I top off the battery, and have been since I read the dealer doesn't several years ago on the other forum.
(It's dead Jim!)
Wondering how long I can go.....

There's a pretty long thread on this...
isn't it a sticky?

I grow weary of this weak redundant thread.

Touch my monkey.

Yes, I changed the battery myself.

MB-roadside quote: $200 for battery, $0 for labor
Autozone: $80 ($90 for battery plus a $10 discount if you give them the old one)

Time it took to change: 5 min to change, another 2 min to get rid of battery errors

If I were stuck in the middle of road I would just use roadside. But I knew the battery was dying after my last service (they wanted $400, wtf seriously)
