The rear does it more then the front most of the time, it's the centric part getting stuck so do what everyone says and hit it. You could use just a small amount of anti-sieze around that ridge when you reinstall, might help in the future on the side of the road with trucks wizzing bye and you have a flat.

i had that problem with my rear wheels... rust had formed at the interface of the wheel and where it was mounted...

to fix it... i put the bolts back on while it was jacked up... but i didn't tighten the bolts (there was plenty of wiggle room.. but it was tight enough so the wheel wouldn't come off). then i slowly lowered the jack one turn at a time, and i all of a sudden the wheel popped out on its own. worked for me, so hopefully it should work for you too.

so once it was loose, i just jacked it back up, removed the bolts, and took off the wheel.

hope that helps...

Thats a great idea! I would've tried that but the rubber mallet for few minutes around the outside of the rim did the trick. Thanks all!!!

I agree, the Sport does look quite a bit better.

I wouldn't worry about the 5-speed vs. the 7-speed in the RWD cars, though. My sense is that the older transmission is more solid.

the 5-speed was used because the new 7G wasn't adapted to the AWD drivetrain at that time. The C350 Sport (RWD) does use the 7G.

I have a 2006 C350 4Matic and am very happy with the car. My only disappointment was I thought the handling a little sloppy compared to my wife's BMW X3 but adding an extra 8lbs of psi to all the tires corrected this nicely. Compared to my previous 2003 Nissan Murano SE the luxuriousness, quiteness, and smooth, solid-feel is light-years better. My previous favorite car was a 1999 Subaru Impreza RS which, despite it's anemic 165hp engine was a hoot to drive. I traded it in on the Murano because, at the time, I could afford a more luxurious car and wanted something more spacious and powerful with AWD. Unfortunately, going to the crossover meant I lost a lot of the sportiness that I had really enjoyed in the smaller car and when it finally came time to get a new car, I didn't hesitate to try out offerings from Mini, Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Subaru, Volvo, VW, and even a Porsche Cayenne. After test driving them all, I decided to go with a BMW 330xi but just before I went to buy one, I found out that a more powerful 335xi was going to be introduced shortly. I therefore decided to hold off for the more powerful version when I came across a 2006 C350 4Matic demo was up for sale at a local dealership for $10,000 off MSRP. After driving it I was sold. The interior just has a look and feel of luxury that you can't get in the other cars (except maybe the Audi, but my 6'1' frame didn't fit in the Audi) and the price was unbeatable. As I mentioned before I was a little disappointed with it's cornering, but after "properly" inflating its tires, I'm very happy. I'm not looking forward to its $300+ maintence (i.e. oil change) visit, but aside from that, I'm very happy with my purchase. If you have any other specific questions, please feel free to email me.

So far maintence seems to vary from state to state. If your in SoCal then the service A should be around $190, some goes as low as $140, search for the thread

I test drove c350 with 7G and it drove me nuts. Too frequent shift ups/downs expecially when you climb up hills. I love my 5G c320.

yeah - takes a little getting used to. For normal driving, "D" will do just fine. If i'm driving in the city however, you can just leave it in 3 or 4, limiting the car to 3rd for 4th gear. 99% of the time i'm happy with it.

Help with '03 4MATIC

Hi I'm new to the forum and to MB I just bought my wife a 03 c240. She drives 100 miles a day and she was telling me that the RPM are around 3k @ about 70-75 mph. I thought that is high considering they are 5sp auto. I asked her to manually shift and see if it goes to 5th gear she said it only goes to 4 I there something wrong with the trans or are they 4sp auto? It doesn't have an OD button but I don't think it shoul be running @ 3k RPM's could somebody help me with I would appreciate it. Thanks.

When shifting manual you will have 1-2-3-4-D. That is about normal on this car.

high rpm

I have a 2003 C240 4 matic and also thought it was high when I first bought it. It's normal, still gets 22-24 mpg on the highway.
It's just the nature of the beast. You will get used to it.

Yeah, its not like the rpms are revved or anything, but yes the MPG is great for highway driving...I've had my mpg to just about 30 on the trip to the NY meet.

Hi, new here,

I hope you realise this is predominantly a US forum and you are in Lithuania. You may want to start your search closer to home.

C320 4MATIC wagon - suspension question

My wifes wagon is due for shocks soon. I wanted to inquire with this forum about which would be the best street use set up. I'd like to see the car a bit lower and remove the extra space above the front wheels to the fender.

I've heard about Tein and HandR.

Thoughts?

Your only choice is to get a set of lowering springs from Vogtland. Nothing else will work with the 4matic suspension setup.

Not sure if vogtland has any springs at the moment. There are only two sets in the entire US, and I have one
