upsolute chip tuning event

We are currently planning a group chipping for MB, BMW
and Volvos the 26th of the month at my other house in
Bayville, NJ. If you would be interesting in
attending let me know, the time would pretty much be
all day, whenever you are free. We will set a
schedule as it nears. The deal with the chipping is
it may be a two time event, we have to make sure we
have your file for your specific ecu.

Let me know if you are interested.

hiya,

what about fuel efficiency? is it going to take a significant hit? are there no negatives w/ getting the chip?

sorry, i don't know much about this kind of stuff. but for $400, and no negatives, i would get it!

i'd goto that meet in NJ but i gotta goto orlando, FL that weekend

well according to upsolute, engine wear is minimal, since the boost is small, and well within manufacturer tolerences. fuel efficiency they claim increases a bit or remains stable (not exactly sure how ), while torque and hp increase all along the curve.

now i have 2 issues with chip tuning:

1. i would imagine it essentially VOIDS the entire powertrain warranty (if detected), so if something really goes wrong, you need to go back to upsolute and get your stock ecu info downloaded back onto the car.

2. i want dyno proof from someone on this board that the chip actually increases power. not seat of the pants testimonial or web page BS. I want to see marks dyno. Although PERSONALLY i would have liked him to dyno his car BEFORE the airbox and exhaust but AFTER the chip. but hey its his money, and i am just gonna assume the exhaust and airbox are negligable factors.

Think there would be any reason to go? It'd be nice to go and actually talk to someone from the company. Think they would have dyno run proof of ccoupes yet? At least, they should have some for the previous gen c230, right? I mean, it's in Jersey, so it would be an easy drive for me.

Audi A4 1.8T
Bayville, NJ is near the shore, exit 80 of Garden State Parkway
Do a map search for 409 Cumberland Ave.

check out: http://www.upsolute.com/eng/index.html

Looks like you would be looking at around 230 hp (at the crank)

possibly better fuel efficiency??? very interesting.

i just emailed john from upsolute; asked him several questions and the answers i got was that it was visually undetectable which is cool and that they would have to prove that it was the chipping that caused any warranty problems. still a risk but one i'm willing to potentially take if the claims are validated/proved.

is NJ the closest place to get the chip done? NJ wasn't even listed on the upsolute webpage.

i'd go just to see tommy's car! i hear its bloo.

Talking

John, any problems with interested bystanders stopping by to talk about what you guys offer?

Young, you wouldn't like my car. You actually have to shift it.

if MB was like BMW where you can just plug in a cable to upload the program or you can just buy those small program uploader to switch program on the fly

I guess many people are interested in the chip program as opposed to pulley kit is that chip is not visually dedectable. If it can add 20hp 20lb/ft i think i'll do it in a heartbeat

man i'm losing sleep until mark post his dyno and his cold air kit

john said that i could just show up even if i didn't want to get the chip. so i think he'd welcome anyone to stop by.

Lightbulb

If either of you guys is going to go, let me know, and we could have a mini-mini meet. Otherwise, I'll try to get some info from the chip-a-thon.

Renntech spoiler might be done by then. Is there a reason why you have to ride someone's *** to get information? The final part of my spoiler was supposed to be in and painted by now, but they haven't called me. Of course, that'll mean that I'll have to call them to find out the status of it, instead of them calling me. Is there such a thing as a partsdepartmentmonkey?

hiya

i can't make it 'cause i'm going to orlando, florida for the weekend (hope its warmer in disney world). otherwise, i'd go.

btw, here's john's reply to me:

young,

by using the stock chip and just reprogramming it, it
is a stealthy as can be and is visually undetectable
by diagnostics in the shop. As with any modification,
warranty will always be challenged, but as with any
claim, they must prove it was the chip that caused the
problem and what they don't know can't hurt you. too
bad you cannot make the 26th, this would be a great
oppurtunity to see what is involved even if you do not
want the chip just yet.

Talk to you later

John Achille
NJ UPsolute

i asked him where his office/shop was at but he didn't tell me for potential future chipping.

I knew you'd see the light. Don't forget to ask nicely and they will let you ride in front of the monorail with the driver.

C230 Sports Coupe
answer

These are the emails that Rene (National director for Upsolute) sent me:

Hi, my name is Tim and I have a 2002 C230 Mercedes Sports
> coupe. Do you have a tuning program currently availible for
> my car? If not do you plan on developing one? If you do
> have on how much does it cost fully installed. I heard
> about this product from www.mbworld.org where this product
> gets awesome reviews. So if you could email me some more
> information on it ie. does it void the warrenty, how hard
> is it to change back to stock etc. Any info is greatly
> appriciatted. Oh by the way, I live in Gastonia NC, I know
> you are in Charlotte but what part of Charlotte is your
> instalation center located in.
> Thanks a bunch (ME)
(HIM)Tim, we do have a chip for your car, if admitted to the dealer
it will void your warranty , the issue does not come up unless
there is major repair, we recommend you contact us before
taking the car to the dealer in such cases. the price of the
Upgrade is $325.00 It takes about an hour to do, or reverse, I
can schedule you at your convenience, my number is 704 588
0207. I am the national director for Upsolute, I do not find a
need for a shop, I work from my home. Regards, Rene

(ME)Ok, I'm getting ready to have to 10k mile service done so
> do you think i should wait until after the service to be
> safe. What did you mean by a "major repair". So if i have
> to come into the Dealer for major work would it be better
> to get it "reversed" back to stock prior to taking the car
> in? How much does it cost to revert the car back? But if i
> just go in for an oil change, the chip will not be detected?
> Thanks
(HIM)They will not detect it for service, they have to drive it and
log engine functions. No cost to revert, it's free of charge.
Major work would be compressor failure or transmission failure

of course, i'd love to cruise down the florida keys in my new SL500!!!
