Another "flameable" question...if one puts an AMG license plate frame on a non-AMG car...is that the same as putting the AMG emblem on the car? I got the AMG license plate frame on my C240. Also got the AMG valve stem covers. Both were gifts. The frame went on. The valve covers - hesitant to put them on. Too easy to steal.

 

really, there is no need to put the heat on a fellow MB driver... if you guys want to laugh at people badging their car into something it is not then do it to a Toyota...

you definitely need to slap on the Kleemann badge and put the C24K on the other side. Just like Kleemann do with their cars.

 

But its kinda fun this way. People get surprised. Hehe.

 

its not a ricer thing, to me, putting an AMG badge on a non-amg car is being a poser, and also offending the driver of a real AMG. Its hard to explain, but people who buy real AMG's invested more money into a real one, where as people slap on 7 dollar badges. Its just a way of showing respect, i respect all AMG owners, because one, their car is an AMG, and two, they spent a hell of a lot of money to earn that badge. Plus im respecting other MB owners so that i dont end up on BMW sites that say that thier 330ci beat an AMG (even though its not). It basically puts a bad name on MB when people do that. Its your car, but personally i wouldnt do it. AMG owners earned the true badge, and we must aknowledge that. Words of advice, only put AMG badges if you own a real AMG, or if you have done AMG modifications. Just my two cents.

 

Yeah, I think in the end I'm not going to do it only because I don't want people to have the satisfaction of thinking they beat an "AMG." I could care less if the car buffs look down on me because I have an AMG badge. If they had any sense of style they would realize all that money they put into there side skirts and spoilers don't make the car look as good as THEY think it does. The truth is, it's very unnoticeable on a Kompressor (from what I've seen) and if they get mad that I have an AMG it's only because they realize that I put a $7 sticker on mine and they put $700 down and the cars are virtually identical (except for the specs, if any).

Why do you think people hate on the posers that slap an S600 or V12 badge on there s430 or whatever. It's because most people don't know the difference and the driver with the fake *** 600 will get the same envy as someone with a true 600. That's the facts, dispute it all you want, most people can't tell the difference.

 

Don't count on envy from pedestrians or even MB owners unaware of AMG. Both groups couldn't care less what you slap on, might as well put Ferrari, as someone sugested. Poseur (=wannabe) is a person who is desperately trying to look like someone he/she isn't. If that's what you think of yourself - by all means go for it, you'll be laughed at, not respected or envied. How hard is this to get?

 

i think it would be noticeable on a C-Coupe, not to mention a C-Coupe with no AMG Exterior add-ons. Put it this way, would you like it if someone put a V12 badge on a C230? Im not trying to start up an argument, im just trying to learn the logic of someone who wants to do this. More power to you man, if you plan on doing AMG upgrades, awesome, if not, then good luck. BTW, people would only laugh, not envy. True MB people could spot this...

 

Think about it this way, if you are looking to impress anyone, it will not work. Here's why: anyone who doesnt know what AMG is will not care and probably not notice. 2nd: anyone who does know what AMG is will spot the fake, and then point and laugh.

If you are doing simply because you think it makes the car look better... then its ok... but dont expect anyone to be impressed.

And come on... what real AMG owner would ever be envious of someone with a $7 badge?!?

 

just let you guys know, my sales (now manager) has a E500 sport with bodykit, rims, entire quad exaust from AMG But he didn't put the AMG badge on there because he said why he would want people to mistake it for the E55 when it's only a E500.

btw, i think he's going to get the E55 next year...

a guy i alwasy see driving around my area is the complete opposite. the guy has a E320 (removed badging) and put on an E55 and AMG badge. It just looks so fake, stock E320 rims, No AMG body kit, No AMG Exhaust and not even the blue tint. The guy pisses me off. I would like to try to talk to him one day and ask WHY!?!?!?!? Or maybe one day if i see him at a traffic light i will tell him to roll down his window and ask if he wants to race, if he says no i will just tell him what i think of him, and if he says yes i would ask (after i beat him) how i can beat an E55?

So if you get the full AMG body kit you are entitled to put the badge on?! I don't think so...I have everything AMG on my car (all factory installed) except the engine and still wouldn't put the badge on....it still drives like a non-amg car!

 

having the AMG bodykit is just like the 2003 540i sport with the M pkg. Looking like a real thing is one thing, badging is another.

it's up the the owner to decide whether he wants to embrass himself infront of people who know better.

You have fake Xenon's on your Kompressor, how would you like it if someone pulled up to you and told you what 'he thinks' about your fake lights? You wouldn't like it I bet.

P.S. I wasn't referring to your Kompressor, I was referring to your CLK430, even though, your Kompressor is still loaded.

 

Hey last time I checked we live in the U S A and we have the right to say what we want about someone's car (unless its racially motivated, profane, etc...).

If he wants to insult the guys fake E55, he has every right to do so. Also lets not try to start a class war between the C230 owners with the C5 and C7 and those without.
