2001 C240 6spd
Another "flameable" question...if one puts an AMG license plate frame on a non-AMG car...is that the same as putting the AMG emblem on the car? I got the AMG license plate frame on my C240. Also got the AMG valve stem covers. Both were gifts. The frame went on. The valve covers - hesitant to put them on. Too easy to steal.

really, there is no need to put the heat on a fellow MB driver... if you guys want to laugh at people badging their car into something it is not then do it to a Toyota...

Sometimes I wish I still had my C240 badges so that people know what car is beating them. Ahahaha.

its not a ricer thing, to me, putting an AMG badge on a non-amg car is being a poser, and also offending the driver of a real AMG. Its hard to explain, but people who buy real AMG's invested more money into a real one, where as people slap on 7 dollar badges. Its just a way of showing respect, i respect all AMG owners, because one, their car is an AMG, and two, they spent a hell of a lot of money to earn that badge. Plus im respecting other MB owners so that i dont end up on BMW sites that say that thier 330ci beat an AMG (even though its not). It basically puts a bad name on MB when people do that. Its your car, but personally i wouldnt do it. AMG owners earned the true badge, and we must aknowledge that. Words of advice, only put AMG badges if you own a real AMG, or if you have done AMG modifications. Just my two cents.

Why do you think people hate on the posers that slap an S600 or V12 badge on there s430 or whatever. It's because most people don't know the difference and the driver with the fake *** 600 will get the same envy as someone with a true 600. That's the facts, dispute it all you want, most people can't tell the difference.

i think it would be noticeable on a C-Coupe, not to mention a C-Coupe with no AMG Exterior add-ons. Put it this way, would you like it if someone put a V12 badge on a C230? Im not trying to start up an argument, im just trying to learn the logic of someone who wants to do this. More power to you man, if you plan on doing AMG upgrades, awesome, if not, then good luck. BTW, people would only laugh, not envy. True MB people could spot this...

Think about it this way, if you are looking to impress anyone, it will not work. Here's why: anyone who doesnt know what AMG is will not care and probably not notice. 2nd: anyone who does know what AMG is will spot the fake, and then point and laugh.
If you are doing simply because you think it makes the car look better... then its ok... but dont expect anyone to be impressed.
And come on... what real AMG owner would ever be envious of someone with a $7 badge?!?

just let you guys know, my sales (now manager) has a E500 sport with bodykit, rims, entire quad exaust from AMG But he didn't put the AMG badge on there because he said why he would want people to mistake it for the E55 when it's only a E500.
btw, i think he's going to get the E55 next year...

having the AMG bodykit is just like the 2003 540i sport with the M pkg. Looking like a real thing is one thing, badging is another.
