Extended Waranty????
I believe it has some factory warranty left on it. My credit union offers an extended warranty. I have never bought an extended warranty on anything. I always felt they were a rip off. But with this car being a mercedes, I know even small repairs can be outrageous. I am real nervous about the maint. on this car. Heard some people they have never had problems and some people say they are maint. hogs...and I know nothing about working on a car.
Just wondering what your thoughts or experiences are? Is it worth the extra expense?

Anyway , why pay for future repairs you may never need? The whole extended warranty business is a scam.
Extended warranties rarely pay for themselves (even with a Mercedes)....check out consumerreports.org

Careful, some extended warranty companies require you to take your car somewhere to do teh oil change. You need a receipt, so if you do it on your own, you're out of luck.

I know some of it(if not all) I was imagining...
Just don't like to feel that way about a car, especially a 'supposedly' reliable one.
Right now I have a door lock actuator problem I need done.
Get my alternator & batteries checked due to "undervoltage" warning a few weeks ago.
What else is next? water pump? A/C?...don't know.
Thinking of trading it in but could not decide yet...This is my first BEnz & I usually pay my cars off before trading it...don't know...don't know.
I had a BMW 325is previously & the only problem I had was the water pump that I warned about replacing before it breaks.
& money is tight right now for purchasing a warranty.

On a side note, I have a rant about the MB extended warranty. The interior door pull on the front passenger side pulled away from the door at the top. This is considered a trim piece, and therefore not covered by the extended warranty. The part costs $40; dealer wants $220 (including part) to fix. My SA indicated this problem is not uncommon due to a poorly designed, cheap part. Ouch.

At 60,000 miles I had to have the head replaced due to the carbon build up issue. My alternator was recently replaced along with the radio, door lock actuator and leaking cam sensors.
The first 50,000 miles I was pretty much problem free. Now I'm starting to have issues. I don't know about after market warranties but if they cover major components it's probably a good idea. If I remember correctly, I paid an extra 1,000 - 1,200 for my additional yr/50,000 miles.

BUT that being said, one that doesn't cover some of things I highlighted...
like "cables". Does that mean, any electrical failure due to bad wiring isn't covered? What exactly is a "cable"? If it's referring to like a brake cable, then no biggie. The only cable in the whole car is for the E brake.
Exhaust and emission components? Here in Cai, we're covered for 80K miles no matter what...not a likely source of problems, though I recently replaced the manifold gasket myself. (but I have a header, self installed and didn't use a genuine gasket when installing...did this time!)
Seats- Electric seat components can be troublesome and expensive.
I'd want coverage for that, or better yet, just not have them, too much hassle if it breaks.
Torsion bars? Like that would break.....
I'd look for a warranty that covers the seats and the entire restraint system for ALL occupants. Other than that looks good!

BEST INVESTIMENT EVER FOR MY CAR. I think they have paid aprox. 4-5k in repairs to my car!
