Slight steering wheel wobble

My steering wheel slightly wobbles with my new 19 inch wheels installed at around 50 mph. It's a very very slight (potentially I could live with it) wobble. My question is, regardless of it being a super slight wobble, should I attempt to have it addressed?

Yeah the wheels are brand new. I highly doubt they are bent as I have been super careful driving over any evil bumps with them etc. They've only been on for like 4 or 5 days so far, so they were just balanced and I went back a day later and they re-torqued them. I didn't know if a super slight wobble in the steering wheel was normal or if they should be able to get it smooth as butter.

Check the control arm bushings and the tie rod ends. Do you have any play left to right in the steering wheel...even a little bit?

Naw, I don't think there is any play at all in the wheel, but I will double check when I go to lunch. I was on a super flat newly paved road the other day and it didn't seem to wobble at all. Wonder if its just the combination of large wheels + evil roads. I will probably do a little more driving today and examine.

probably just off balance. larger wheel's not an excuse for wobble.

so you dont have any spacers .... is that right?

because if you do chances are it is the spacer that gives you trouble, even if it looks like that it sits perfectly.

I have spacers and when i had the first set of wheels on the front ones I didnt have any troubles. with the second set mounted and balanced (same spacers as before) a had a wobbling steering wheel. The I replaced the spacers with hubcentric ones and it got rid of my wobbling steering wheel.

Had the same problem when i put my 18s on. I have 5mm H+R spacers in the front but they're hubcentric. I also have Coilovers so i'm guessing thats why i have some occasion wobble at highway speeds. I raised the rear a week ago and tried to make sure i had the same thread length on both sides of the coilovers and it decreased the wobble a lot.

Well they re-balanced my wheels because they found 2 of them off a little. I guess its a little better, it now does it at around 45 and the range is smaller, still very slight wobble. They recommend a front end alignment next if I still want to attempt to address it. They mentioned a front end alignment is tougher with large aftermarket wheels. I may just say **** it and live with it. They will be off in a few months for winter anyway.

Only other thing I can think of is going through a road force test. The balancing machines now a days turn so slow that they can not pick up imbalances at higher speeds.

If this bugs you - and it would bug me - go to another shop & have high speed balancing done - If this does not improve matters let them use a finishing balancer with wheels on the car. Also get them to check the tyres for being out of round and replace if so or have them ground round which means giving up some mileage. My other car is a classic Jag with wire wheels & tyres with tubes. The only way to get the XYZ!!** thing not to shake is to balance on the car with a finishing balancer. It's fully restored and has no play in anything!!!!

No, I have to find a shop with a finishing balancer I guess and I haven't been right on top of it considering I have rebalanced the wheels twice in the past few weeks already. I will most likely try that though. Thank you.
