Anyone install aftermarket alarm/remote entry- luck with autostarting?

I am looking to get a viper aftermarket system. They claim to not be allowed to get the IIR key to work in conjuntion with a remote starting module. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with that.

had seen this alarm system on the net anyone knows if it's worthy or not http://www.frabalt.com/shop/product_...roducts_id=319

they say just 6 wires to connect and it's enabled/disabled by the original remote key

Is that a French Site? i actually talked to a tech at BestBUy last night and you cant et a standard two way remote access and alarm installed for about $450. He said there is no technology out in the market yet that will allo remote started due to the IIrc communicating with it.

Hmmm - he's right, but I'd not suggest BestBuy for anything, much less letting them tear about with the electronics in a Mercedes.

I have the same/similar Viper alarm you probably saw at best buy. Got mine 2 years ago though and at the time all the people i talked to from different shops said it was impossible to get the remote start on the car because of the coding on the ignition system. They said that if the remote start entered the wrong code when trying to start the car that the system would not allow the car to be started at all for something like 6-8 hours.

Dont know if now they have modules to fix this problem or not but thats what i found out two years ago

The problem with putting a remote start on a 2000 or newer Benz has nothing to do with the wiring of the product. The problem is that the Benz checks the key code at random intervals and continues to do this while the engine is running. If the car checks the key code while remote started and you have the key in the ignition, it will delete both codes and you will be stranded. That is why no one will put one on these cars. It is possible to put a remote start on these cars.......... it's just not a good idea. The only way around it is to tie the remote start shut down to the door trigger, meaning that when you open the door, the engine shuts down and then you restart it with the key. This will avoid the car seeing two keys at the same time.
