On most Mercedes, you can fix these problems by resynchronizing the sunroof.

Check your manual for instructions.

Mine died too...

I had an on again off again problem with mine. Would open sometimes, sometimes not. Took it in and they resynched it and it's worked fine for the last few weeks. Of course in typical MB fashion, they're going to replace the whole control unit becasue it was 'throwing some strange codes." Getting it replaced in January (as if I'll need it then!).

There were some defective switch/logic units in the first year or so of production. Mine did the same thing and would not even synchronize. Replaced under warranty and now fine!

Alot of cars
I just had my sunroof fixed yesterday. Symptom was exactly like you described. I only had my car for a little over a month with 2500 miles.

IS THIS A SEDAN ?

If it's a sedan, this happened once to us on day one, and never again. I fixed it while I was waiting for a callback from MB road service.

You have to open the overhead front light/switch console, insert the handcrank, bring the roof back to the closed position, and then go through the resynch procedure. This is all documented in the owner's manual. It took me less than five minutes once I had the instructions in hand.

By the time the on-duty mechanic called back [this was a Sunday morning], I had it fixed, and it has never had a problem since [knock on wood].

Obviously, if there is a dealer nearby, they can accomplish all this pretty quickly, as well.

Yes, mine is a C240 sedan. Sunroof worked fine for 3 weeks, then suddenly it only moved an inch at a time for closing.

Dealer did fix the problem in one day, but I had to putt around in a Suzuki Aerio they gave me as loaner car. This brings up another question: why don't MB owners get MB loaner cars? I feel the Suzuki I got was not up to the standards of what MB owners are accustomed to driving. I have had long experiences with Lexus and Lexus always give Lexus loaner cars to customers in service.
