Quote: Hello All,

I decided on some new wheels but along came a problem. I have a 2005 c240 4matic I have read the threads in regards to this problem but have not come up with a solution. Here it is. The wheels are Size: 18"x 8.5"

Bolt Pattern: 5x112

Off Set: +35mm

Hub Bore: 66.6

The lugs bolts that came with them are too long for the rear wheels but seem to fit fine on the front. So the mechanic put 3mm spacers on the rear. The problem: It gives a slight vibration which takes away from the ride. What is the size that I need and if so are there lugs bolts out there if so where? Please help!

Thanks in advance!
You shouldn't have installed the spacers in the first place. You just needed to find bolts with the correct size. I don't know the correct size, but I'm pretty sure if you STFF here, you''ll find your asnwer OR maybe some members that know will feed you the answer.

Spacers cause vibration especially if those spacers aren't hubcentric

Tyre shop may grind them down - not sure what the cost is.
3mm spacers is unlikely to hub-centric, right?
Getting the right bolts is definitely they way to go.

thanks!

Guys I have a few questions-

What problems may I have when it comes to fitment with these wheels?

Does anyone know of a pic thread with c230 sedans with specifically 18's?

What profile tire should I go with? Right now im running 45's with the stock 17's

Lastly how hard is it to paint your calipers because I may paint them black and place a Brembo sticker on the fronts since they are correct?

A machine shop should be able to do it, OR, you should really get new lug bolts. Measure the ones you have now and order some that are slightly shorter.

What a morning.....
Managed to find a pair of 2nd hand hub rings to fit (while I wait for my 4 new ones). Took the front wheels off and noticed that the spacer although cut to the merc bore of 66.56mm did not in fact not have the lip...sugar. These are the ones:http://www.ezaccessory.com/Billet_Hu...di_p/5112f.htm

I have hence re-opened an old spacers thread.

I tried taping the front hubs so that hub rings were snug on the hub. Overall - very little improvement...3 points of note:
1. The fact the rears had no hub rings could be causing the remaining vibration. Any thoughts?
2. Need more tape on the front? Weight not on the hub properly?
3. Bad move not getting the lip....

GGG,

I have 5mm H&R spacers without a hubcentric lip made for Mercedes on the front hubs only. Read my PM or my posts on the thread titled "Will a 3mm spacer...." on how I resolved my vibration.

The only difference is my wheels are Mercedes hubcentric (66.56mm) where your wheels are 74mm. I was able to get away with tape since the difference was maybe 1-2 mm. You should use a hub ring instead of tape for that larger difference.

The only problem I can anticipate is the hub ring having an inner diameter intended for the thicker inner part of the hub where the spacer will be. So, you may have to tape the outer thinner portion of the hub like I did, put the hub ring over the tape, then mount the wheel (spacer previously attached to the wheel).

should ask in the aftermarket wheel thread. but hopefully frank can chime in.

i don't think there's anything wrong with ebay wheels; unless you try to track them or do road racing or whatevers. they are most likely heavier and easier to damage [?], but they are cheap.

check out one of the "sponsors" on here- might be sevas but i can't remember. there have been people who's wheel spokes have completely came apart from the outter rim. think about what would happen to you when/if that were to happen.

i'm not saying i completely support a set of $10k HRE's, because i think that's crazy. however- i also think it's equally crazy to trust my car, life, and life of whoever else is around me on a SET of wheels that cost $400. find some middle ground wheels and know they are safe. if you can't afford a decent set of wheels- then you don't need them. just my opinion- and remember what they say about opinions......

I generally would never spend less than 250 per rim. That SHOULD filter out most cheap ebay wheels. Regardless, no matter how reputable the company, any rim can bend or crack. Just make sure the seller is rated well and see if anybody here has bought from them before. There's a reason why most people that want good quality, affordable wheels go to EUROTECK, or other forum sponsors. Just my 2 cents...

No. I considered it....and ended up with a nice set of used genuine AMG wheels for much less, and no worries about quality.
And people think I must have paid a lot! Ha...nope.

Those cheap wheels will bend or break.
