I'm hunting for A4 titanium package wheels which are 18x8 with a 43mm offset. should i also get spacers to make this work? (i dont have big brakes and drive a 2-door) if so, do i need spacers for front and rears?

i guess some info that i think would be helpful for many people looking for wheels is a range of offsets for each tire size which would fit without spacers. if i knew more about this subject i'd spend some time and post. but basically something along the lines of:

For 18x8 acceptable range of offsets between 35 to 40mm (beyond need spacers of ? size)
For 18x8.5 acceptable range of offsets between...
For 18x9...
For 19x8.....
etc...

i think a running list that spells out the extremes of fitment for the most common sizes would be very helpful. just an idea...

thanks!

So, I have a set of 18" AMG wheels (which are being powder-coated). They are 8.5in in the front and 9.5 in the back. Also, ET 30 in the front and ET35 or 39 in the back. I was thinking 225/40/18 in the front and either 245/35/18 or 255/35/17. I just wanted to confirm everything so I can get on getting some tires. Thanks in advance!

225 on a 8.5 and 245 on a 9.5 is a bit stretching it. it'll work, it'll just be stretched.

I honestly haven't done this before. I'd rather not stretch, so would you help me out? Thanks.

EDIT: 235 in the front and 255 in the rear?

2006 C230 Sport
Hey all... just wanted to see if i could get some input on something.
I really want to do a rim upgrade and ive read through a bit of the "All you need to know about rims" thread but it seemed like the thread is meant for people who have all the knowledge and already know what they want. How would I even begin looking for a rim that would match my car? I drive a 06 C230 sport. So i gather i need to have a rim with 5x112 right? and i could probably do 17" to 19" with 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the back? Whats the deal with offset?

Another question... do people usually buy their rims and wrap them, then determine how low to drop the car? Or is it a process that must be calculated before rims are bought?

Thanks in advance for all your help. I know im a noob haha but i gotta start somewhere right?

are you kidding me? Your gonna get a wheel that says AMC??? Even if it does fit I would never get these horrible wheels. Not trying to be a douche but these wheels are horrible.

that's fine, it'll work. Also you have to see the offset. Usually +32 offset is normal. For example this wheel has +35 offset which is fine. my previous wheels were +38 so I had to get spacers (got 7mm spacers) to get them as close as possible to 32 because the wheel would hit my brake caliper. But the rear I didn't need spacers. This also depends on the wheel design because it might have a good offset but the wheel spokes might be more inward and your brake caliper might hit it. Whatever you do post here before you buy. My previous comment wasn't a bash but rather looking out for a member

We're nice here we don't bite so feel free to ask

P.S. My current wheels are +35 and they are fine but again you can't only rely on offset alone. You have to look at spoke design.

Thanks for the help Karo. Any and all constructive criticism will be completely welcome. It is definatley needed. I know it wasnt meant as a bash. We are all here for one another and after reading post after post, i know the mb community is like one big family haha.

So in other words its hard to buy online even if the specs are decent for the rim? Id still actually have to see them to see if the calipers clear? My homie had hookups to that site so i decided to check it out. Haha im looking for decent rims to replace my stocks that wont break my bank. Ill keep looking. =D

Call them up and ask them question (dont be shy you are spending money with them) but this exact one you saw should fit like a charm but again the AMC logo is kind of whack lool

Most sites say which models they fit, so you can go based on that (if you are gonna buy online)

Very nice! I really like those wheels, my only problem is they only come in 19"! I just can't justify the large difference in cost of tires.

You might want to call and ask them, they do make 18" v710's I just don't know if they make them with anything close to Mercedes fitment. Even these wheels were a challenge, they were modified from an Audi fitment.

I agree about tires, not only cost, but it severely limits your tire options too. Price we pay for looks sometimes.
