Blackout vinyl project- flat or gloss?
I've decided that I am going to do black vinyl on my roof, rear diffuser, and all of the chrome trim. My car is white, flat black wheels w/ chrome lip, and a CF front lip and grille.

flat black even on the roof? if you all say so- works for me.
i'm not going to paint anything- vinyl first. paint is a little too permanent for me- especially since i don't know what it will look like.

I'm for gloss. If you're going to put the work into the roof, then it needs to show as well as the rest of the exterior. It would look odd to have clearcoated panels that look great, then a flat blah top.

I have to completely disagree on that. My tuner did it on his white CLS and it was one of the nicest things I've seen. Very different, but the flat black roof with flat black wheels made it look VERY nice.

I agree, if you're going to go with the FLAT black look on one element of your car, use it to contrast, and then use it again in another component, such as wheels.
Everyone's C-Class is starting to look the same. Not starting, I take that back. Everyone's C-Classes today look the same. Do something different. Stand out, and get beyond the front grill / flat badge / S-style taillights bandwagon !

Look for some of mig888's photoshoot postings. It shows the pics of the CLS in one of them. When you do a search, do a search for threads that mig888 started. It'll be easier to find.
