my best highway was when i averaged 30mpg or about 420 miles using ~14 gallons on a trip when i kept the speeds around 60. my worst was when i averaged 12mpg when i first got the car and drove it like i stole it. lol

I'll usually get over 450 in my auto 05 C230K. Trip computer over in the thousands of miles since reset shows high 20's (27-28 mpg since reset).
Best I've ever gotten was 36.7mpg going from NJ to RI doing about 70mph all the way, windows up, no a/c, at night. Didn't have my camera then.
Here's some pics from my last trip to NJ, coming home from the new W204 C-Class Event back in Sept '07...
First pic: 34.2mpg average after driving 145 miles (with another 110-120 miles left to get home), going about 65mph most of the way (average speed of 59mph due to some stop and go on the GW bridge). Yeah yeah...I know...it's in "C" mode too. But I wanted to see how good I could get the mpg's
Second pic: range of 536 miles a bit after I filled the tank to the top prior to leaving NJ !!! Take that Prius (no offense to Prius or other hybrid owners).
Going to D.C. in a few weeks with the family, so I'll see how I do then. Might even be better considering how the wife puts the hammer down on exceeding the legal limit when the little kids are in the car

Apparently not enough while gas prices is still around $4.29 for premium gas. (For Chicago Suburbs at least)
I get about 28~32 on highway depending how fast I cruse, usually between (70MPH~85MPH) and 24mpg~26 on local.

i get about 350 - 375 before the red light turns on, mostly highway driving. I have been doing some of that hypermiling stuff to get an extra 2-3 mpg. i have been averaging 27-28 mpg on my c320 when i commute for work. it gets a little lower if i do some city driving.

i have also started slipping my car in neutral going up/down some off ramps... as-well as on the down slope of bridges and hills.
It probably doesnt mount to all that much but im just fixed on the goal of keeping my trip mpg gauge around 30.

Thing is, I've found that the total mileage you get on a tank of gas isn't exactly the best "marker."
For me, my daily commute is 24 miles total (12 each way). If I only drive my car on the work days (5/7 days) and not on the weekend, I'll get around 220 miles before needing to fill up, but at the same time, the tank lasts me 2 weeks (10 days)!
It's all relative, really. Last trip I took to Vegas, I got close to 400 on 1 tank. I'm usually more concerned about how often I need to fill up than how many miles I get on each tank.

What red light? I thought it was amber? Is there another light after amber? Maybe that's why I only get about 340 average since I'm filling the tank roughly about 30 miles after the amber light goes on. Maybe I should wait for the red.

Ahh I see. Thanks! I still don't get why my average total miles is less. I drive 70 on the freeway and do not really drive too crazy.

When running E85, I get 220-280 miles to a tank. When running premium I get 320-380 per tank. That is with an average of 75% highway to 25% city and a pretty heavy foot.
Like Drex pointed out, how far you go on a tank in not a very good indicator of fuel efficiency.

I think Drex's point was that he hates to stop and fill up, so by his twisted (sorry, drex) logic, driving less makes the car more efficent?
My car goes about 200 miles on a 16 gallon tank of premium (around town). I KNOW my car in not efficient by that number.
