Transmission "stucK" in gear!?

Oh my....

So I was out driving last night, and had my car in D.

it's an 04' C230 Kompressor Sport. (1.8L SC)

Anyway, I accelerate from a traffic light and it seems SUPER sluggish. I was like, WTF? I reach down, and try to bump the shifter over to the left to see if it's in a low gear, and the car won't allow me to manually shift it.

I drove it like that for about 10 minutes, until I get to a spot to pull over. I turn the car off, turn it back on, and proceed to drive again, and it shifts just fine, and will allow me to shift it just fine.

WHat the hell happened?

Has this happened to anyone else before? I felt like it got stuck in probably 3rd or 4th gear.....

I'd appreciate it any insight on this.

Sounds to me like your car went into "limp mode". Limp mode is a self-preservation mode to protect the engine when something potentially dangerous is happening.

Did you notice any malfunction warnings? If not, get the codes read. Sometimes these cars think they have something wrong when they don't.

This happened to me, twice, in a short period of time, then never again.

Nah, no malfunctions on the LCD Screen, no codes popped....

I've got no idea! lol.

Kinda scared the pee outta me though....

I did kinda get on it, pretty damn hard about 10 minutes earlier though... (prior to it acting funny). Some kids in a damn Acura Integra almost hit me around a curve, then when I sped up to get away from them they started chasing after me.... . It acted up when I went to accelerate from the traffic light....

That's really interesting....

My last car, an 05' WRX STi would go into limp mode when tuning.... .. but always popped the CEL when it did that. I guess MB just figures we're too stupid to know what's going on!?

LOL

Bad radiator leak into the tranny?

My car, same year c230 kompressor coupe, did it a couple of times.

I am too nervous to bring it in to see if it is the radiator leak thing.

I don't drive it enough to worry but will bring it in before next road trip.

Mentioned it to my SA at the stealership... they are aware of the bad radiator problem.

I'll have to look that up on the service records.

I'm really not sure, my engine bay is HELLA clean.... It was clean as **** when I got it, and I've kept it real clean ever since. I'm sure it's all covered under warranty.

Do you have a code reader or are you just saying nothing showed up on the dash? If you are looking at the dash only, get the dealer to extract the codes or get a code reader from the local auto parts store. That might set you back $100 to $200 though.
