Is there a way to obtain factory service manuals for our cars, I am interested in doing routine maintenance on the car including brake pad, rotor etc changes myself.

While it is obvious to figure out how to do most things, I find it helpful to know correct torque values to use, and any got-cha's beforehand.

MB does not make the service CD available until after the cars are out of production. That is unless you are willing to rent it for the annual fee in the $25K range

At least you have the forums, as good or better than any service manual. If you go on ebay, there's a guy that sells the parts manual for about $20. Sometimes this is just as good since it shows explosion drawings of all the part assemblies so you can see how it goes together.

No manuals,
but I do have a factory CD that shows procedures for some things...mostly it's interesting, not very helpful for actually repairing anything, but there's some interesting video's on it.
Write me privately if you have more questions, like can I burn you a copy.
Don't ask where I got it...it was a gift.

Just a note- I bought a Bentley service manual on CD for my '99 Passat for $99 and IMO, it sucked. It was almost impossible to find topics and "flip" through the manual. I was only going to use it as reference for service procedures and techniques but it was a big disappointment.

Actually the factory manuals are released after the first production cars are out of warranty. Theoretically, this would be September, 2004 (after the 4 year warranty on the first 2001 C-class sedans in the US)
