Glad you are ok and it wasn't major

Maybe when that car hit you you kind of slid and hit a curb and that's why your rear tire bubbled? And from the impact somehow it damaged your HID ballasts

youre right mine isnt that bad, but driving around with that on my bumper sucks! I took my car to C&C collision, one of the top body shops around and they told me more than likely there is damage underneath, so ill have to wait and see.... dealing with these insurance companies is annoying too. How bad is your bumper?

my bumper has scratches on the left underneath side. i mean you cant see it unless you go up to it, but we all know how we feel about our cars. if there is something there, it will bother YOU, haha. i talked to a specialist, he said that mines would cost roughly $200 to fix. if there is damage under ur bumper, then it is def. going to cost you more.

Continuing with the good luck with this car, or with me in general, After going to Flight in Huntington Beach, i roll over to get some albertos, then head to my cousins apartment on Warner just west of Beach Blvd. I eat and leave within 30 mins walk out to my car and its gone!!! wtf!!!! yes 30 mins and it was towed. I didn't hear the alarm cuz his apt was kinda far from the spot i was in. I was in the tenant lot with no permit... thought it might have been stolen at first, since my cousins 550 was broken into a few months ago. we talked to the 2 security guards there and they told me it was towed....

so after driving down to Santa Ana and $265 later, i got my car out...

good night

damn that sucks. i'm surprised they were able to tow it. Since our cars don't have tow hooks in the chassis.

The way they towed mine was this plate slig under the car. And they put these wheel locks and lifted the car.

I know on my car when I jacked the car and the door was locked the alarm came on. I wonder if Rollnnn's did too.

yes my alarm did go off, but i couldn't hear it since my cousins apt was kinda far. I know it went off, cuz when we talked to the security guards outside they told us it did and they were surprised that we didn't hear it and didn't go outside.

They probably towed mine the same way as yours Karo.

Steering Wheel Controls

Roland,

i had similar experiences you had when adding a head unit to my C230. i went to all kinds of places & they wanted obscene amounts of cash to not even give me exactly what i needed. or they said it just couldn't be done. until it was recommended that i see Pacific Stereo in Riverside.

yeah riverside's far, but from reading your posts, you seem like it would be worth it to make the drive if it meant making your ride that much nicer. i'm the same way.

anyways, regarding steering wheel controls, i actually found one on ebay... from portugal. it wasn't the PAC unit... but another brand. i had Pacific Stereo install it. i also left the box in my car when they did & the guy told me they ordered 3 of them.

i think the site you can get them from is connects2.com. or PS can probably order one if it's not in stock.

though i must say, i have a Pioneer AVIC X910. not a kenwood unit. but i'm not sure if the same cable will work. they can tell you though. as far as i know it's to link the CAN BUS protocol the steering wheel buttons use to the HU. so, i'm not sure if it'll work on the kenwood or not. like i said, check it out. just may!

also, the cable i got works to advance the tracks and do volume control. i don't believe the pioneer one did both. hope this helps, & good luck if you've not gotten your steering wheel controls going.

haha... thank you!!!

I have a few more mods that ill hopefully be able to finish within a couple weeks...
i have stock speakers also. but lemme tell you. adding an external amp and a subwoofer is ****ing amazing. you wont believe how amazing your stock speakers can truly sound with a new HU, amp, & sub in the mix.

I was also told, to change the OEM HU, i'd have to change my speakers, factory amp, and rewire the whole dang car for the new speakers. and $125??? that's GREAT! I was quoted $400 for labor only. Those P#nk$!!!
that's BS. it's not that hard to swap out the HU. call Pacific Stereo in Riverside. you don't need to change speakers. as far as the amp, i'm not sure. i did change my amp before adding the HU. but you can keep your own speakers, & they sound GREAT.

i got the Pioneer AVIC X910. it plays DVDs, has ipod, bluetooth, nav, etc. i'm very happy with it.

Kobe,
I haven't had the steering wheels controls hooked up yet, but i really want to. I might have to give that Pacific stereo a call. I heard about a module for the controls that Kenwood sells in Europe, but hard to get over here. Im sure its something similar to the one you got, ill check out that site. And heck no i wouldn't mind driving out to Riverside if they can do it...

As for the stock speakers, i know what you mean, mine sounded way better when i changed out the head unit.

I also just listened to Jre's(jreC230) system, he has the stock speakers up front with an aftermarket sub and amp, and his sounds clean and bumps way harder than id ever need it to.
