questions??
Im really interested in getting this, but i just had a couple questions, maybe someone can help out.... Do you know if this effects MPG at all and is it positive or negative. Should this be a pretty simple install, can i take it down to HMS and have them do it?? hopefully for cheap.... any help would be appreciated...

If you’re constantly burying your foot in the throttle, it’ll consume more fuel.
Driven normally, its affect will be negligible -- at least it was on mine.
HMS or VRP can certainly handle the installation. It’s a straightforward task.
Buy this pulley!

Gas mileage is minimally affected, yet more power requires more gas, so thats kinda a silly question.

Whats worse is I was right - M271 owners are cheap and now he's selling for less than $600. I don't want to be right, cause mine is sitting on a shelf. I'd rather be wrong and sell it for $600.

Its not about W203 owners being cheap. I just put 7K into my car this week (will post pics this week after TWS installs my KWs on Tuesday). But there is no proof of the horsepower gain. It's like buying something and you don't really even know if it is going to work. Not only that if nobody else is buying it why would I (as a buyer) give the seller what he wants for it without first trying to go lower? That just makes no sense. Sure its a good deal but if nobody is buying it for the posted price. Is it worth the posted price? (yes its 50% off but is there a reason why it is 50% off?)
I'm really considering about buying it just to give the man some money so u all can quit whining about and he can get his MX on. But does anyone wanna try and "SELL" this item. Lets say it is 10HP gain. Can you really feel that? All I know is my c230K is 189HP and a civic SI raced me yesterday and I lost LMAO! But when we got to the next light i was like "damn you beat but the ladies still love the mercedes" haha. (SI was stock).
All im saying is for the i guess what you call "cheap w203 people" why would they want to buy a product if they don't know if its really worth the money. That's all I am sayin..

Wouldn't changing the pulley require some kind of modification to the ECU or something? (Softwarewise)
btw: does any one on this board know how to do that? I know my friends with other cars find people on their forums who can do that stuff

Adding other performance parts can get you some gains. If you plan on tuning you ECU afterward would be good.
Not that i know of. Too scared for someone unprofessional to do it. Why not send it out and have them do it for you? SI maybe? or powerchip?

Correct me if im wrong guys, but its been claimed and i have been told from people who have it, that ecu tunes from companies like powerchip or si, not only give gains on hp and tq, but they also give you better mpg?? maybe not on wot but on regular daily driving
"yet more power requires more gas" if the above is correct, this would be an incorrect statement.
With pulley kits, isn't it a redistribution of power? with redistribution why would it take more gas?? like i said above, i don't work on cars, i'm not a mechanic.
serious answers please... thanks

There is a basic principle here. If it gives you more power the vehicle will burn more fuel if you choose to use that power. If you choose not to use that power it could in fact give you a slight fuel saving - efficiencies accepted

I still need to do some more research on the ECU tune. I've heard a couple of stories how it damages the car somehow and some people have no gains. I'm still on the lurk for some real feedback. But I've heard no complaints about SI.

I don't know how sophisticated the Dyno set up is that you are going to do the check on but it would be interesting to check fuel consumption before and after - and if you get a power output increase to back off the throttle to the "before" power output level and see what the fuel saving is. Make sure that they measure the inlet air temperature when they do the runs. It needs to remain constant or all your readings will be nonesense. A 1 degree change in inlet air temperature is enough to throw the results out.

I really am just curious to see what the HP gain really is lol I don't have any bills so Im just sacrificed a little under one weeks pay to do this test for the forums so if you know of a place let me know!
