Custom Color Vinyl
Ok, after STFF'ing and googling, I can't seem to find what i'm looking for.
I would like to dechrome the stripping on my car, and it seems the best way to do that is by covering it with vinyl.
Instead of doing it with black like dbvolz's did, I'd like to do it with the pewter color.
The thing is, I can't seem to find a place that will either carry that color, or do a custom color.
Does anyone know a place?

It's funny you mention this, because I'm actually looking for some Pewter vinyl to put a pinstripe on my wheels. I found this company called Stewart Design www.stewartdesign.biz/roll-pinstripe-c-97.html They're supposed to be sending me a color chart so I can order the right color. If you find out the color code before I do, let me know! I will do the same. We could even go halves on the roll since I won't need 150 ft to do my rims. FYI I used 1" matte black on my window trim.
Edit: I just got off the phone with Stewart Design and they said they won't have a color chart to send out since they ran out or something...
If any body knows if the Pewter color vinyl matches our cars let us know!

Using the link i posted above, i took it into photoshop to get the numerical values. This is what PS is giving me:
Pantone 415 C
CMYK: 40 - 33 - 39 - 1 (in %)
RGB: 159 - 157 - 149
Hex: 9F9D95
The Pantone i know is what most print shops will ask for, but not sure on vinyl shops.

It looks like the Pewter metallic color on the Stewart Design chart should match our Pewter pretty well. I think I'm just gonna order a 1/4" roll of it. It's only $15...

I looked at it in PS and it looks very similar but the one from their PDF actually has multiple colors, so i couldn't get a 'overall' color.
If you order it, let me know how it looks. How wide were the strips you used to cover the chrome stips on the bumpers and doors?

I just got the color chart for the TFX Vinyl in the mail. It looks as though the Pewter color they offer matches the MB color pretty well. I don't get my car back from the shop til like Wednesday, so I can't compare directly yet. Looks good though. If anybody has any questions regarding color matches I can help out thanks to the brochure...
